I use my 300zx as a trackday only car. Was wondering would it be a good idea 2 delete the abs and is it just a matter of taken out a fuse

A member on here, believe it was jimmytt. Put a switch on his on the dash, to turn it on and off.

My understanding is that ABS is next to useless when you have an off and are heading to the wall backwards (Gooseneck at Cadwell is a common one) as the ABS doesn't work

ABS is a nice to have safety feature for the road and it's not going to kill you if you don't have it. I'm not sure on stats but a lot of NA zeds and certainly early 'S' bodies didn't have ABS as standard. I'd suggest that you try it with and then try it without, weigh up the pro's and con's in your own mind, factor in lap time differences and number of lockups (if any) and then make the call based on your own experience.

and I'm guessing you're not Tom Lawlor 8-5-1

My name is tom lawlor alright but not 8 5 1, was reading up on another forum that alot of r/s turn off the abs for track, so is it just a matter of pulling a fuse?

I'm working through an ABS issue at the moment and am in the process of checking that there's power going to the actuator. The pedal is soft as hell and there's a 'squeak' coming from the actuator when the brake pedal is pumped (when plugged in, when unplugged and when ABS fuse is removed). I don't know if anybody else has experienced this but I wouldn't want to drive it like this if this is how brake pedal feels when the ABS fuse is pulled. However having said that it might be perfectly ok to drive on track having pulled the fuse, and what I'm experiencing may be a completely un-related issue

I was reffering to Tom Lawlor 8-5-1 (UFC fighter)

Yep, pull the fuse and ABS wont work

Something else to consider, there is ALOT of pipework on the zeds because of the location of the ABS pump. You MAY end up with a better pedal feel if you were to delete the ABS pump and re pipe all the brake lines from the master cylinder to each individual caliper, rather than it all going from the MC, to the boot, then back out to each caliper

If you do replace the lines, I think you'd need to get the non-abs bmc, it has an oulet for each wheel rather than just front and back.
