Hi Noel - It would be great to have the 300ZX club on board.

I believe Bobgenie is looking to compete again. I doubt very much my Zed will be as quick over the 1/4 as my MR2, but it's a highly-strung beast so it may pop at an inopportune moment. I didn't enter last year as part of a club (I was running the only Pulsar there!), and I haven't heard anything about an IMOC presence there this year, so I'll be more than glad to help with any organising if required :)

For those that haven't been before, it's a great day out! Even better if you come for the weekend.... Plus, those without a £100k to plough into their motors need all hands on deck when the inevitable happens

Practice today 1/4 mile only I managed an 11.88 with a terminal 131mph. Happy with that but hope to do a little better tomorrow. There are some fast cars here and the competition is stiff so gonna be a great days driving :-)

By the way that time only had me 5th in RWD with best RWD 10 seconds something and 4x4 8 seconds!!! I got some work to do lol.

good luck guys, gutted I'm not there despite working on the car for the last 3 days - seperate thread to follow on that!

That's still got to be very near a record for a z32 in the uk isn't it? It's a good time Bob.

The 4wd drag final was epic to watch! Andy Forrest in his Scooby vs an R35. With Andy winning with a 8.3 at 178mph.

Good weekend and glad to meet some more zedders, and watch them burn some rubber!

What a day that was. Loved every second of that. Will be doing it again next year for sure. Good to see everyone and big thanks to slick Pete for advice and hrs Bing ny time slips. Great help.

More power for next year. And new tyres.

Cheers

Danny

It was worth it to see the huge grin on your face all day. i would have spent more time with you but Ben and his guys at Eurospec were at full stretch looking after 5 cars including Bobs so I lent a hand with spoiler changeovers. wheel n tyre changes and fitting some new plugs.:sweatdrop:

Bob had a very good day . Ended up third in RWD handling circuit. 5th on the quarter mile with a 11.75 at 130mph. :w00t:

He came 3rd in the top speed runs with 153mph but that was well below his best. A small silicon hose blew off at the top end allowing the car to lean out. This happened twice so Bob called it a day before any damage was done. Wisely IMO

First off a big up to all the guys who took part today. It was good to see so many zeds running and some decent times being done too. Once you get the first run out of the way it gets a bit easier! Apologies to all if I didn't have time to speak but it's just the way I compete and today was a long hard slog with lots of problems to solve and changes to make. I was very happy with the 11.75 but disappointed with the top speed run. The car was detonating at around 150mph and I still had about 300 metres left to run. I've managed a 173mph previously but had more power then but still really wanted something better but that bloody hose kinda ruined that. My personal favourite part of the day was my final handling circuit run. I only did 6 runs all weekend and that included the final eliminator so third was a great result. Not only that but my car weighs more than both the first and second place cars put together!!!!

There were some fantastic cars on show today and some amazing times were recorded. I think Andy Forest might have won individual but I believe MLR won the team event but we shall see when the results are advertised proper.

Bob, I kinda think you came first on the handling cos in my mind the dax and the other one shouldn't count... They are just gokarts

lol well I know what you mean but I just enjoy the buzz of the competition the more the merrier :) Duncan Cowper in the Dax Rush was quickest of all on the handling circuit including the 4x4s. I was racing him at TOTB 3 years ago and TBH I think he's done a great job of creating a seriously quick car over the years so good luck to him. On the other hand I saw some cars that have had in excess of 1/4 million pounds pumped into them (some of the guys James and I have to contend with in Time Attack aren't too far off budget wise either :w00t: ) so on that basis it's hard to decide what's right and wrong so in my mind it's sensible and more satisfying to just do your best and see how it measures up.

As a matter of interest on the handling we managed to get a better time than all the front wheel drive and half the 4x4 so maybe the 300zx isn't such a bad motor after all. And believe it or not my car is taxed, tested, and insured

Great work Noz I now you have put a lot into this and from what I see on here you have done the club proud. As you know we are still trying to get more done for you Motor sport guys and hopefully we will get that sorted soon. Also well done to Pete, Bobgenie and all you other guys who raced. helped out and was able to be on the club stand.

Keep it up guys and looking forward to bringing more gear and support to 300zx Motorsport.

It was good to put some more faces to names yesterday and to see some serious flying machines too!

The Zed crew did themselves (and everyone else) proud with their performances and, frankly, looked sooo much better than most of the other machines there. With the exception of that SWB Audi Quattro... that was just porn...!!

Really enjoyed my weekend so thanks to Noel for sorting it. Met some great people too, just sorry if i didnt manage to speak to everyone. That was my first experience at 1/4 mile and im afraid my best was a 13.8, I was topping out at over 110 most times i just need to learn to launch properly lol. Top speed was 144.1 over the 1k again if i nailed the lauch im sure this would have improved. Cant wait for next year and if Noel, Bob and Keano dont mind ill upload some vids on Youtube?

What you need to keep in mind Paul is that in 12 years of TOTB event you are one of only four 300ZXs to have ever taken part.

The fact that you were not as quick as some of the others is not important. As a "newbie" to the whole event and quarter miles you give a very good account of yourself. You will soon improve with practice.

And your car looks superb BTW

Would be even better if my pic was focussed properly. Anyway here is all I took. Not very good really but.......................
