Just thought I'd ask the question out of interest...

Assuming that you have two days free time, can work 24hrs a day if needs be but are on your own (and relatively competent), how long would you expect to take to re-assemble a VG30DETT in the following state?

- bottom end already built and on engine stand

- heads already built and ready for covers to go on

- everything else (turbos/manifolds/gaskets/plenum/fuel rail and injectors/alt/pumps/pulleys/belts etc) all sat on the bench and ready to fit

at a guess how many hours would you expect it to take flat out to:

(1) re-assemble the engine ready to drop in

(2) Remove the current engine with hoist

(3) Re-fit the new engine with the car on

As much as this probably wont help, but it takes as long as it takes, its not the sort of thing you should try and put a time line on

do you need any machining done as that's going to really hang things out. if you were pulling one block and dropping in another with two pairs of hands youd be done in a long day I recon aslong as you've done it before and the deletes are all done and theres no hiccups. however once you start cracking open blocks and moving things that haven't been moved for 20 odd years thats were time just slips out your hands

I've removed a VG30DETT but have never fitted one

All deletes are done, it's a case of re-assembling the engine (the bottom end is already built as are the heads). I'm trying to gauge how long approximately it usually takes

I think if its in the state you say bottom end and heads built just a case of refitting I think I'd beable to build the engine up and remove the engine that's in the car in a weekend that's with many tea and bacon cob breaks lol and probably working into late evening both days then probably another half s day to fit the new engine and get it running

Yea 2-3 days I'd say others might do it quicker but I like to take my time when assembling and refitting the engine so it's all done right and don't make any slip ups

yes you must be another se nissan customer cos thats how long they had mine....
