Bloody number plates, commissioned mark Darby to get me a sticker number plate made up by his sign guy, its now on the front of my motor, so no longer have the stealth look :(

Why we need a front mounting number plate is beyond me, but there ya go (i do know some reasons, but they make the cars look horrible)

Oh and a big thank you to mark for sorting it out, full size, reflective but as a sticker.

It might seem " much better" but it aint legal...................................

Others opt for the standard UK car size plate but as a self-adhesive one to stick directly onto the GTSbonnet/paintwork etc but did you know this type of plate is non-compliant too no matter how it is made (even road legal UK height font of 79mm). DVLA banned them all!!

i think your right they're pete there are only a hand full of cars permitted to display a stick on plate to the front, ie stuff like etypes that have no available flat surface to mount. so technically you could be prosecuted for improper plate/display which is a nice fine. dont take my word for it though lol also as far as im aware failure to display a plate is a producer situation as it could arguably have fallen off. need to look into it....

its legal ... as its full size with correct spacing and reflective and displayed on the front of the car

Its more legal than my last plate that was half the size and mounted in the windscreen lol. i doubt they will moan, as from a distance it looks like a plastic hard one, its still reflective and thats there main issue with stick on ones.

The plate needs to be supplied by a registered number plate supplier, there are legislations in place for plates made since 2001 BS-something or other

Not even having looked at the font, spacing, relevant marks, dimensions etc, I can guarantee the plate is 100% illegal, no two ways about it. The only mass-produced vehicle legally entitled to have an adhesive flexible non-vertically mounted number plate registered on or after 01/10/1938 is the E-Type Jag. I love the Zed, but an E-Type it is not :ninja:

Fixing of front registration plates: vehicles registered on or after the relevant date

6.—(1) This regulation applies to vehicles, other than works trucks, road rollers and

agricultural machines, first registered on or after the relevant date.

(2) Except as provided in paragraph (5), a registration plate must be fixed on the front of the

vehicle in the manner required by paragraph (3).

(3) This paragraph requires the plate to be fixed—

(a) vertically or, where that is not reasonably practicable, in a position as close to the

vertical as is reasonably practicable,

(b) in such a position that in normal daylight the characters of the registration mark are

easily distinguishable from every part of a relevant area having the diagonal length

specified in paragraph (4).

......................

All very boring, but something I looked into long ago when I needed an adhesive plate on my S13. I got one anyway, decent airflow is way more important than laws and such. I will probably get one for the Zed, too. Unlikely to get you pulled over or even fail an MOT nowadays

Edit: Totally scratch most of that hahaha, thought it would be mounted on the bumper slope, like the other pic in this thread. Font is way off, look at the '5'..

Looks good though

Yeah, luckily 99% of police will be sensible about these kind of things, real crime going on and all that. MOT testers too, thankfully. Doesn't mean the plate is 'legal' in accordance with the Road Traffic Act and all that legal guff though...

Regardless, performance (and aesthetics) >>> Number Plate Regulations, small price to pay on the very slim chance you'll get pulled over for it. I'll be getting one myself
