What sealant do you use for water pipes ?

the hard pipes to the block

 

i used high temp silicone from any auto store...just a very thin smear on each surface and leave for 5 mins to let the solvents evaporate..Remember less is more with any silicone type product:wink:

Couldnt have said it better myself Brian,less is more,using too much sealant is belt n braces,use an ample bead and thats enough,can clog oil ways etc if overdone,new gaskets should never have sealant used if surfaces are cleaned properly.

jimmer just out of curiosity how much is to much..i always try ang get a 5mm bead even all round is that too much or about right

5m is massive bud,2.5 and standing proud is fine,your looking for a good hieght and not width,the squish is where its at,if the bead is tall it will seal well.
