just the log book. nothing else needed inside EU.

So the current MOT is not required, or a certificate of conformity from Nissan Europe ?

Is it a uk car? Its easier if it is. Beware though the french goverment are hating on old cars atm. Trying to ban them.

The car was imported from Japan 1n 2003 but unfortunatly when I bought it I was not given any import paper work.

I take it that this is a legitimate buyer and not one of those scams..

 

you will have cleared funds in your bank before releasing the car? or verified bankers draft.

If you also look at the v5 paper once you sell make sure you fill out the section thats says you have permantly xported The vehicle.

Why would the French guy want a RHD car from the UK when he could source a LHD car easily enough from Germany/US or anywhere else that they drive on the wrong side of the road?

thats right they extortionate in france and germany as they were rare to start with and jspec imports didnt really take off in teh same way due to the whole being on the wrong side buisness. france is a funny place though law wise things change overnight.

I thought it was strange, however this guy appears legitimate, he is coming over on the train and is paying in cash, £ notes, he is also arranging for the vehicle to be licensed across there. The point about it being worth while travelling here for a right hand drive car is well made , I can only assume that he is starting a collection and yes they are cheaper here. he seems to know the game and is a professional journalist, so live and learn.

I sold my uk supra to a guy in Germany as they cannot import Japanese models and aren't allowed to import a car that was not officially a uk model. If you google it it will explain more I can't seem to put it in words here. It is due to checks carried out on official uk cars.

The final outcome is that the French authorities will not accept the imported car and therefore he cannot get it registered, looks like we are together for a while longer, bright side is it appears to be appreciating asset at last.
