ive had my zed a mere 4 years now, but when i got mine there were 30 odd z32s for sale on every well known classifieds you chose to look on.....

pistonheads currently have 6 for sale! just six. at least one of these is a member on here.

23 on ebay one of which is murts old car and one or two im sure are repeats from p/h

and only 8 on autotrader again some repeats from other sites.

so id say there's probably only about 30 cars currently for sale in the country.

UK production stopped MANY years ago.

Imports have now dropped to a tiny trickle.

Rust is getting to be a major issue causing many to be scrapped.

People crash them with monotonous regularity.

They are fairly expensive to run and maintain so major repairs mean more get broken.

So numbers will certainly be falling.

I know it's a common debate on these forums, but I'm wondering if the lower numbers will result in increased prices in the long term. A lot of older cars are starting to enjoy higher values, although they're mostly european cars - old fords, old BMWs (E34 M5's have gone up a lot in value recently I think, and E30 M3 prices are insane!).

Who knows, could be a good market for clean, unmolested Zeds in the future...

There is a market now and there will be a market in the future for good clean unmolested cars and cars with good quality upgrades from reputable companies.

I think we are a few years away yet.

There is still a lot of tat about that depresses the overall market.

Off interest... does anyone know roughly how many 300ZX are left on the road in the UK now (LWB or SWB)?

Also what is the rarest model 300ZX Were there any special limited editions or whatever?

There was once a website mentioned on top gear a while ago that listed how many of which cars were registered in the uk. I even think it stated which were actually on the road too.

No idea what it was though.

yeah there was but its wildly inaccurate doesnt take into account imports etc.

As few as there are forsale, people just are not buying them! I've had but two calls on mine and I'm going to stick my neck out and say its pretty much the best one for sale in the country at the moment (well I would say that), but in all seriousness there is so much tatt out there it makes it hard for a good one to really stand out. I wish I had the means to keep it and just buy another car but with recent developments at work and one or two other things I really do need to get something I can use every day and not have kittens over if I park it anywhere slightly dodgy.

but in all seriousness there is so much tatt out there it makes it hard for a good one to really stand out.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Although there's not many for sale, most are at the cheaper tatty end of the scale and therefore people are not used to paying more for a 300zx. It'll be some years yet before the dross has been broken, scrapped or the boy racers have moved on and then the values may pick up (slightly).

I saw a '73 3.0 litre GT Capri for sale recently minter- £24950! My dad sold a 72 for £700 ......(mind you that was back in '75!! LoL)

I sold my capri to buy a brooklands 2.8 it fell through I got 700 hundred for my capri and the brooky was 3 there that sorta money now :(

I had mine for sale for 3 weeks, got contacted by 3 people in that time and sold it for £1800 which was £200 less than asking price, ok it was an auto but had loads of new parts and pretty good condition. So even at the lower end of the market interest is very thin.

You was lucky to get £1800 I had mine on ebay and luckily I put a reserve on it cos the highest bid was under £1100, times are sure hard at the moment.

Im not too fussed about the prices going up or down or how many are left. It doesnt mean they are getting any rarer because there are less for sale.

My mates keep telling me to sell mine as its hardly ever on the road, but what would i get to replace it? When it is on the road it still gives me a huge smile when i drive it.

If you want the prices to rise sell a few on ebay with fake people buying them for silly prices (its what they do in the art world) but then you need to stop people selling them for such little money!

According to that i have the only 300zx 2+2 turbo auto!!

Will be going on ebay tomorrow for £20k.

For the prices to increase again, numbers need to be greatly reduced first or they need to be reinvented and not seen as wildly expensive to run and impossible to repair.

Back in 2005 I bought my 85k mile S13 for £550 with plenty of tax & MOT. Since the drifting scene made heroes out of them, they're worth a great deal more. Zeds used to be drifting heroes before drifting was cool! The MK4 Supra, Z32, GTO, RX7 FD & NSX are the Big Dogs from 90's Jap Land. If we make a collective effort, surely we can get the 300ZX up there with the Supra at least!
