Finally decided to remove my rear spoiler today, not as bad a job as first thought.

Corrosion was not that bad either. Bit of repair work to do with the old mig welder but all in all, not that bad.

Can a mod alter the title please? should read, "Rear spoiler is off." doh

Well, thinking of cutting out the tin worm and making good. Toyed with making up my own spoiler, something like the original sierra cosworth whale fin type. Along the lines of the escort cosworth.

But in reality, I will probably go for a standard replacement.

i replaced mine with the same but fibreglass fitted perfect and kept the standerd look

Where did you purchase it from?

Being realistic, I shall probably go the standard route also.

By the way, can you remember how much it cost you?

Car.Mad makes them mate, send him a PM. Saves a huge amount of weight and doesn't act like a huge silica gel patch, sucking all the moisture out of the air. lol

Really need to do this to my car as well, my spoiler has past it's sell by date.

Hi Ossian, I must admit, I had heard that it was a bit of a daunting job, so I kept putting it off.

In reality, it was quite straight forward. Once I had understood where all the fixing were, it took me less than half an hour to get the thing off. If there is anything I can pass on from my experience, I would be happy to share.

I replaced mine with car mads new custom spoiler. Quite similar to the original but without the 3rd brake light. I'm really pleased with how it looks.

Cheers, never had an issue ripping things to bits.....just need to make sure I have a replacement before I go that far. The other thing that is holding me back a bit is I have a import tail gate fitted to a UK car so the glass is the wrong colour. I may hold off till I get another tailgate or glass.t The spoiler an black strip is really spoiling the look of the car though.

I took mine off recently and had the same rust areas as yourself, quite easy really barring all that silicone.

I have to agree, I do like the standard spoiler Car.Mad produces. They do look nice.

Does anyone know if he makes them with integral rear brake light? Sort of set my heart on one.

Decided to bite the bullet and made a start on cutting the tin worm out tonight.

Mind you, cutting the metal out is the easy bit. Now I have to put some good stuff back in!!!

As a bit of an up-date. (thought people might like see my progress)

I managed to weld in a repair piece today. Just got to trim the bottom edge before I prime.

After that I can then add the outer skin.

There are a couple of areas still to attend to before I can say that the thing is rust free mind.

Not much in the way of progress today.

Only managed to trim the edge and get some paint on.

Still, every bit counts I suppose.
