well my blue one has the autobahn 888 FMIC on it and my black one has Z1 large side mount intercooler on it, im tempted to switch to the front mount, its larger capacity over all and the large front opening to my bumper seems empty with out anything in it, though could really do with some sort of mesh in there to stop stones hitting my z1 oil cooler.

thoughts?

After seeing your car last Thursday mate, I'd say the FMIC......

......if only so you can actually get your indicator lights to fit in the bumper without chopping them up!!!

Richard:biggrin:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I was thinking of swapping out my ARC side mounts for a large FMIC, al for appearance of course :)

Noooooooooooooooo!! ARCs are probably the most expensive & best performing IC's out there!! Dont do it!! :slap:

well richard, i sorted out that problem by using the dummy tinted UK specs and drilling out the backs to fit the bulbs in and be able to mount them on the front bumper.

I do love the look of a large front mount, it also has a larger capacity per side, so ineffect more cooling, it already has the uprated rad, but a larger oil cooler in the way, not sure now lol

I've gotta an as new FMIC coming out of my 2+2 soon. Don't like it as too low so I'll do a swap :)

matey your zed is awesomeness all wrapped up into one, you have come along way and now you want to swap inter coolers? are there any benefits to either? or is it more to do with cooling capacity?

Nope Ian you are getting confused.

Bobs slicktop has side mounts and they are staying.

Bob is talking about the 2+2 he recently bought . It has a FMIC as he said.

its getting late, my head goes to sleep earlier than my body lol

i get ya now.

if you do the FMIC, you should relocate the oil cooler to the side pod where the SMIC(s) were. they put the twin oil coolers in those side pods on the rx7 anyway, looked rather neat when i uprated them :)

As Pete says :) I'm not convinced one is better than the other TBH but the FMIC on the 2+2 is too low for my liking and I'm pretty happy with the slicktop setup so that's my preference. Ever since Dan built the new engine I've never had any cooling issues so I'm happy that it's all about getting the balance right.

i seem to remeber wheni saw it the fmic on that car sat about an inch lower than the bottom face of the bumper? so yeah i kinda get what you mean. have you changed much on it bob?

hmm, what front mount is it? mine sits about the same level as the underside of the car.

i think they work out about the same, performance wise,

ok on paper the fmic is bigger but restricts air into the rad and intake, hence why i moved my intakes to the SMIC location

i had the same problem with height, had to fabricate some shorter brackets for mine, to raise it up as it was lower then my bumper.

but large smic arnt much smaller, and arnt in anything way,

your black one would look good with a FMIC IMO, its my fav bit of my zed the way it looks so mean

think the change would be looks as a posed to anything else.
