Car was all ready for its 4 wheel alignment this morning then its MOT would be at 3:30

But its developed a really annoying screech and a smell of burning rubber and i've no idea what it is !

I've checked round the full car and although the camber is completely off aswell as the tracking none

of the tyres are rubbing anywhere and i'm now at a loss what to do.

I'm missed my slot for the 4 wheel alignment and i'll miss the MOT today as it likelt wont pass with bad alighment.

So my trip to JAE this year might be at a loss too:angry:

I've took an emergancy day off today and just about to jack the car up and double check all the bolts.

Might even swap wheels back to the 18's just to be sure its not the wheels untill the 4 wheel alighment is done.

next issue is cant get an alignment untill thursday so fairly sure we wont be there for setup this year.

Is the noise and smell of rubber when the engine is running whilst stationary? if so most likely a seized air con belt pulley, if so easiest way around is to cut the belt, or if you have time replace the pulley, you can check it by releasing the tension and slip the (belt off from below) then the pulley bearing can be felt.

Well didn't i say i was JINXED !!

After having issues with my front wheels and the noise i decides to call driftworks and sent them an email picture of my setup.

Cleverly they spot the issue straight away and it turns out when fitting the new front and rear lower arms i never used the wee

tappered colar that apparently comes off the old oem arm - well nobody bloody told me did they !

Good news was the old arms were still lying out the back for the fronts.

Bad news is i chucked the back wishbones away over a month ago.

Good news was a couple of excellent members namely SandyZ and Jim was at hand to help me out with some breaker parts.

Very bad news was on my way to glasgow up the M77 there was a very bad crash no more than a 1/4 mile and it involved the

car crashing through the central reservation and smacking into another going the opposite way.

Well i thought at the time how bad can this get - 2 hours later i'm wishing i never thought that.

Secondly stuck in a one way queue going no where i get a call from work saying the full of troon town had a power cut and that

what should they do about turning all the servers off - at this point they had less than 5 minutes before the big betteries ran out.

Nowt i can do i told them as i told them about the situation.

So now i'm back at work doing system checks to make sure nothing was damaged and getting everything to go for the morning shift.

Who said i was jinxed.

lol

OMG!! Its just typical!! problems right before JAE , I hope you get them all sorted mate, I`m still struggling too, glad yours is nearly there though :)

Well second attempt was today and i made it all the way to see Jim!

Found what i needed and with the help oh him we used a torch to cut at the bits required.

Got back just before 8pm tonight and set about the zed with a torch and some spanners with very succesfull results.

Only managed to work on the fronts tonight but i believe the backs are strong enough to get me through the mot then

tomorrow after work i can again insert the bits needed on the rear hubs.

In the end these two wee buggers below were the cause of all my troubles :
