Pretty self explanatory...

Have a few bits that need sorting on my Zed, been in touch with Jeff at Zedworld but thats about 2 and a half hours away from me.

Does anyone know of a place closer to me? Within about an hours drive or so?

I'm based just west of York.

Thanks

Alex

Hi,

Zedworld is the ONLY Zed specialist in the country!!!!

At the same time, they have heaps of bits for Zed's and you pick up anything you're car is missing.

2 hours isn't really much for piece of mind. Worst case scenario, get them to find the issue and what needs to be done to fix it and then get that done later at a more local garage.

there are probably other garages out there that can work on them and may do a good job but it really depends on the problems you have.

If they have to replace parts no other garage will stock them and they will either order new from Nissan (a small fortune and a couple of days wait) or replace with the wrong or sub standard component.

If the problems are a bit too Zed specific then there is little chance even a good garage will work it out.

well said buddy im in whitby n yorks and will only use jeff at zed world after al as u said he IS the specialist

you may even find as i have that half your local non specialist garages will turn the zed away esp if its a twin turbo model. they dont want to get involved. and the only one locally to me who would get involved was a waste of time and money. there is jimmer with his company powerzed down south but thats even further for you. ive used zedworld for a few things now and ant fault them, your gonna have to travel to get your car worked on so it may aswel be travelling to someone worth their salt.

When people leave their cars at Zedworld, do they just get the train home or can Jeff provide another car?

Ive been thinking about going but is 3 hours away.

Yeah, fair enough. I had heard that there might be a Zed place in Nottingham or somewhere but not too sure?

I'm quite happy to take it down to Zedworld, its just the one thing that I want sorting sooner rather than later I dont want to potentially affect my drive on the way down (i.e. I dont want it to overhead or anything like that)...

Depends on whats being done, if it can be done in a day most go into town for the day, many i know will stay overnight in a cheap b+b and spend time around the Midlands.

I would fly back home after leaving mine.

As said they are the only zed specific specialist in the UK and the place Nottingham way really isn't and certainly not to zedworlds standards.

Always worth the trip mate

smithy

If Smithy will only use zedworld & he live Isle of Man & has to fly home, I think that's nuff said. I'm going down week after next, my 4th trip this year & YES he is worth the peace of mind. I WONT noway use anyone else. Apart from his 100% work that gets carried out, the customer service & politeness from everyone is 1010% & cannot be faulted.

yeah, I'm not doubting any of that, it's just that one of the things that needs doing is to do with the water and I'm a little worried that it might overheat or something on a long run.

Longest I've had it out at the moment is about 45 minutes and when I came back it pissed all over the road...

Hi Mate,

I live in Teesside. Ive tried Falcon, supposed Zed specialists and would NOT recommend them.

There is Jamie at Evotune I use for bits and pieces, hes right near the centre so can spend some time in Durham.

I usually email him and see if he can do it. as the name suggests hes and evo specialists and races his two evos. so best contacting him before making the trip.

He did a cracking job of my suspension and Ill be getting my bearings, decats and timing belt done by him this year..

Ill be taking mine to Zed world beginning of next year for specialist set up..

To me it's down to pot luck until you find a mechanic you can trust. If you can manage to do a job yourself, my advice would be to do it, it's the only way ok knowing it's done properly and to your standards. Good luck :)

I personally would have said that a timing belt change on a Z would be for specialist set up! There is no way what so ever no one anywhere would get their hands on our Z for a timing belt apart from Zedworld. The documentation you get with it covers everything inc photo's & its all genuine parts.

Pot luck dont come into it if you value your Z IMO. To do any specialised job yourself you dont get a reasurance apart from you cant 'kick off at anyone'.

If you want to keep your car in tip top condition then it cost money, otherwise go & buy a Scooby or summit. Zeds are big boy toys & cost big boy bucks.

Zedworld for work only:-)

Do you think? usually do my own timing belts but never owned a v6 before so not that confident in doing it.....

Any performance garage worth its salt should do a timing belt.

Sorry Jay but just beacuse you use a specialist, doesn't mean you get a top job done. My point is you have to find a mechanic you can trust, that's the main thing for me.

I've owned a Z for 15 years so trust me, I know how much they cost!! lol

I think if your in work, then ZedWorld isn't much further than durham.

Kev used evotune up here and was very happy with him. I went to discuss mapping my car only and to be quite honest he said he couldn't do it. Wasn't a very talkative person either so the conversation was like getting blood out of a stone and overall was very disappointing for me.

I would always recommend Phil Dickinson in Manchester for any mechanical work. But if you need things setting up etc then I'd suggest ZedWorld. Why not get breakdown cover (with recovery/relay). Head to ZedWorld and if it starts to overheat, pull over and get recovered to ZedWorld and save on petrol which probably be a similar cost as you paid or the breakdown.

Yeah I guess thats a good point. Plus our work has an office in Tamworth which is just own the road from Zedworld, so I'll see if I can wangle a couple of days down there so it can be done while I'm still working :)

Cheers for your input guys

Alex

If your cars spitting water over the floor after a drive I wouldn't drive it at all, it will end up bad. I'd either pay for recovery to Jeff or poodle down the road then call the AA/RAC or whoever you are with and get them to take it there.

I'm pretty sure Vijay values his zed lol. Maybe do a wee check for some of his threads :)

Eggs: It's not as bad as I make out lol, when driving, it doesnt overheat or leak - its one of the pipes that leaks a bit after the engine is off, only for a couple of minutes.

Theres a thread on here done by the old owner somewhere, one of the turbo coolant pipes or something...
