Engine misfire/cylinder not firing...Advice needed please

Hi all,

I'm waiting to hear back from Jeff on this problem, but I would appreciate any advice you could give me from your own personal experiences, etc.

I have an engine misfire caused by a cylinder not firing.

I've isolated which cylinder has the issue by having the engine tick over and unplugging one coil pack at a time.DSC01160.jpg

When this coil pack is unplugged there is no difference in engine speed.

We also noticed that jiggling the harness holding all of the cables at various points altered the engine speed.DSC01161.jpg

This suggests to me there is cable damage and connection problems.

Not sure it's advisable driving from Portsmouth to Zedworld like this!

I know a very good auto electrician locally who has told me he has worked on Zeds before.

You know how it is though, I'm not sure he would have the knowledge or spares to resolve the problem.

What do you guys think?

Please excuse my ignorance, I'm learning as I go.

Thanks in advance,

Youd be best of replacing the loom. Happens regualry with the heat and age. You could try slicing in new injector and coil pack connectotorzs but a new loom would be best.

A new injector loom would require splicing anyway, its not plug and play, so i would say if you auto electrician is a good one, splicing wont be the issue, but access will be.

ive got the same problem think my injector has gone ? RAC are crap they say with home start they will only relay it 10 miles but if i have broken down 1 mile away they would have relayed me to zed world ,bunch of tossers if you ask me,,so know ive got to think how to get it there

Push the car one mile from your home and then give them a call. Simples..

they say because its now logged theres nothing they can do,ive give them some gob down the fone i can tell you

looks like i will be going round with jo public on the beaulieu show was hoping to take mine but dont think it will happen

That's a bugger then. But seriously it is worth pushing your car that mile to get them to sort you out. I had to do it on my oil burner when it broke down at home and I didn't have home start. Pushed the car about a mile away and called them out. They took me to the garage of my choice without any problems.

well they know im not happy and ive told them im going to end my policy ,,see what they say tomorrow

lol I was about to post a new thread about a suspected missfire.

Under full throttle my Z has started to judder, slight pauses in acceleration. I gave it a few full throttle runs tonight, and after some gunshot noises, its started to have less judder / pauses in the acceleration, still not perfect though. Its the only time I have really gone full throttle in it to be honest. Thinking there maybe carbon build up or something like that. Hoping its not a missfire. engine runs smooth at all speeds, its just affected under full acceleration.

Any advice at all?

You could try the "My car is not a standard car and most garages will not touch them, it needs to go to a zed specialist", you never know..

we must think the same told them that,,and its true no one round here will touch it only a few small workshops in andover and there only intrested in taking things of and replacing them not fault finding

fingers crossed they change there mind tomorrow
