Took advantage of the 3 for two at halfords and bought myself some goodies.

The clay bar kit took some time but it feels so smooth, definitely worth it. quite proud of the effort i put in, don't normally wash it myself.

Got a little camera happy though, i've uploaded them into my albums section but there was too many for one album so ended up with 3.

Here's a few though for those that are too lazy to look.

Pictures really don't do the job justice though, may have to invest in a better camera at some point.

Exhaust really needs a good going over, I think a nice polishing bit for my drill and a flapper wheel to really make it gleam.

Looking great mate so how long did it take to clay bar it?

I clay mine in about 20mins or so. The results are awesome.

I've been looking at clay bars on eBay, didn't know if they were worth it but might have to get one after seeing this

Looking great matey

^^^^^^^^ clay bars are defo worth while. Should use the 2 bucket method as well when washing. Don't forget to seal it with a high quality wax.

Looking good Steve......

.....I have never used a clay bar myself; although I have heard good stuff about the results!! The most I have done in recent years is just a thorough going over with Autoglym SRP - and perhaps a little bit of Autoglym paint renovator on more stubborn blemishes etc - followed by a top coat (or two) of a sealant wax. The Merc's paint is as smooth as a baby's bottom (but it is only 3 years old); plus the ZX and Julia's Rav-4 didn't come up too badly either!!

Now I just top up the sealant once every few weeks; just to keep the cars repelling water, bird poo and other contaminants.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

The kit was £25 from halfords. came with some wax, spray stuff (lube) and a block of clay. and two cloths. didn't even use a 3rd of the clay.

I bought a meguiars claybar kit when I had my white Calibra DTM and the amount of crap it got out of the paint was unreal, it left it like glass after doing it.Still got loads left so going to do the zed later :)

I think the deal is still on, 3 for two for any cleaning products. It took two of us about 30 minutes. but we were claying and then waxing panel by panel. may have another go with the wax later today if i get a spare 20mins.

clay bar is uncoloured blu tac ..blu tac is a lot lot cheaper ....use it with the lube or quick deatailer and the results are as good in every way

just a cheapo tip there for you all

This does make a lot of sense. in essence all its doing is picking up all the crap out of the paint. mite have to give it a go if i ever run out of this clay stuff.

yep it works just as well ....i tend to use a little bit but not much more lube with it but thats just me erring on the safe side as it is a tiny bit more sticky than clay bar
