it feels slow its currently an auto i tested it today and it took a full 4 seconds to go from a rolling 30mph in d to 60mph considering the car is supposed to do a 0-60 in 5 and half it doesnt seem very good. its super fast once it gets going but it just seems to take a life time to get going. ive mentioned before it also feels like clutch slip obviously that isnt whats happening cos thers no clutch. but you can boot it and the revs hit the roof and you go no faster. grrrrrrrrrrr.

Is the fluid still good mate? I'm thinking maybe its a problem with that or the torque converter?

it had new fluid in it er within the last 5k. it just feels like the en gine is providing more power than the box can put to the floor.

I'm thinking that it's the TC then, doesn't it act as the 'clutch' in an auto?

An auto box has small clutch plates called bands, so you may well have some clutch slip.

too true when I had my TT auto had gearbox probs and had gearbox totally rebuilt and a what a big difference

sounds like what i had, i was also showing lock up solenoid fault, but basically when it starts like that, best check the oil you might find your bands are starting to disintegrate, check the dipstick as well, check for the smell of burnt oil on it, also check its colour make sure its not black or starting to go that way, when i was emptying my auto box for this manual conversion, the oil was very "bitty" and also my hands felt like id been installing roofing insulation.

Biggest problem you will have now is, if it is the bands in the torque converter starting to die, then even a good flush through will still leave particles in the system that can destroy your new torque converter.

But i had the same, put your foot down and the engine revs would shoot up but no real power transfer to the rear wheels.

Best option, go manual if you can.

As above, im going on holiday to turkey for a fortnight from the 26th so I cant really get it started till after that :(

Sounds like the autobox gears are slipping, early sign of a knackered box.Time for a manual conversion:thumbup1:

On all my jap imports I always changed all oils every 4,000 miles, or 12 months, whichever came first.

Hope you get it sorted. I know with my Auto, if you put your fott down, it takes about a second (well it seems like an eternity lol) to flick to a lower gear, then it just goes like a rocket. It honestly feels quicker than my 420bhp 200sx was. Once it starts accelerating, there is no stopping. Every up change is perfect, and seemless, just keeps going.

But I still want a manual lmfao.

thats how mine used to be when i got it ryan, but i seems to have to lock it down and down more and more, until apoint now where its unwilling to change gear, and when it does if your anything but crusing it sruggle sto grab a hold.

i think everyones clarifing what i already knew, or thought i knew. it just feels like driving a car with a foorbared friction disc which in a way it is, what supfront simply isnt reaching the wheels some times it locks up and it does othertimes its simply slipping.
