mark did you get that silver n/a then? what happened to the bayside blue one you had when me and sonic turned up?

stu

I've had my N/A Manual up to 130 ish, was scary ish. I guess mine must be unrestricted, or unless the speedo isn't accurate.

Either way doesn't really matter as she's not going anywhere on axel stands. lol :(

147 if it's a black one :lol:

on a seroius note; 146 seems slow. My Vectra GSi 2.5v6 with around 192 - 200 BHP had a top speed of 149 and I had it very close to that one day (scared the sh*t out of myself). I would have thought that a 3.0v6 with 225 BHP would have had a higher top speed than that, regardless of how long it take to get there.

Many have been 175'ish on Stock/ Mildly modified versions.

hypothetically on a late night on a lonely stretch of motorway, 145mph with no rozza's around is very achievable :angel:

quick look on utube and found this if his speedo is correct(pinch of salt there) he's doing 186mph

only time i ever seen a zed beaten,sat on a motorway at 2am neck and neck at 170,thats until the tvr cerbera dropped a gear and left the zed for dust within a couple of miles hehe

I know my UK auto tt will do at least 160 ask the guy in his black carera who was also on a private stretch of road and hit his limiter lol,it got there frighteningly quickly aswell

spedos are normally 10% out, not sure if this applies to the zed, but all cars these days are set to read 10% higher than your actually going. i.e 33=30 77=70 and 186=167.4 (much more realistic imo)

mine went over 100kmh twice on the A303 which is 62mph lmao - Genuinely other than that never been over 60 in it lmao.

A few have been over 170 autobahn etc, have a look into the jun z it holds a class landspeed record well over 200mph

260mph and yet to be beaten as well

mine on a nice long private road got 165 out of my red zed, the N/A is limited to 120 in japan iirc but take the limiter out realistically should be able to achive 140 to 150

TT on the other hand, stock and being well maintained they were limited (depending on country) to 155mph, but delimit them and realistically should be looking around th 175mph mark.

Ryan, all cars are made to show 5mph faster than what you are actually doing not 10%, when it shows you are doing 25 you are actually doing 20, its the reasons speed camera's dont "go off" when just over and why they can nap you for doing 32 in a 30 zone lol

The Cerbera does has a higher top speed (180 - 195 mph, depending on which engine), but it definitely did not drop a gear at 170mph. That would be a very costly gear change lol

Wind resistance is the differance there. the vec is much more aero dynamic than a zed.

Ive been 165 got there quick and had plenty more and that was on a stock engine. only done it once but still wanted more :devil:

OK I was pretty sure it was 10% when comparing Sat Nav GPS speed to dials on the latest cars I've had in the last 3 years ST500, Megane Cabriolet, DS3 and Ibiza FR.

But I know you cant be prosecuted for 32 in a 30, its defo minimum of 33. maybe thats where I got my 10% from.

Will have a looky up on the tinterweb and see what info I can find.

the only cars that need to be calibrated in the UK are traffic police so they can nab you lol

ok, the guys over on the Jag XF forum have tested speedo variances, and it isnt 10% out on all cars by the looks of it. here are their results:

MPH = Cruise control setting

30 = 33

40 = 43

50 = 54

60 = 64

70 = 75

Km/H = Cruise control setting (MPH)

40 = 27

50 = 34

60 = 40

70 = 46

80 = 53

90 = 59

100 = 66

110 = 72

120 = 79

130 = 85

140 = 91

Also seen this on a few forums, but need to try get it confirmed:

Fortunately the over speed allowance is +10% + 1-2 mph

:cursing:

This is taken from: http://www.radardetectors.co.uk/police_speedtraps.htm

The police used to have an unwritten rule of allowing motorists 10% plus 2 miles an hour over the speed limit, so in a 30 zone you would get an allowance up to 35 before prosecution. In recent years this has now gone out the window as the police get to keep the money from speeding fines (for re-investing into 'safety' cameras). Penalty point endorsements on driving licences for speeding are usually given along the following lines:

Exceeding the limit between 5 and 14mph - 3 points

Exceeding the limit between 15 and 19mph - 4 points

Exceeding the limit between 20 and 24mph - 5 points

Exceeding the limit between 25 and 29mph - 6 points

Exceeding the limit by 30mph or more - instant banned

You can also be fined up to £1,000 and insurance renewal premiums will also be hefty.
