Not me it seems as I gave up trying.....:surrender:

.......I made good time down to Castle Combe; arriving in the vicinity about 8.50 this morning. Then I spent nearly 2 hours just sitting in traffic as the whole area was completely gridlocked - from the end of the dual carriageway on the A350, past the little service area with the Esso garage and beyond.

I made it about half way between that services roundabout to the next one; and by 10.40 I had made no more progress. There were a few Japanese cars in the queue - not many though - I was behind a blue Scooby with a great reg (W666WRX) and in front of a nice white 370z. So me, the 370z and a white Mk4 Supra behind that, had had enough and turned round.

I did try a couple of alternative routes via some small lanes and through the village - but still gridlock. So I turned tail, headed back to the M4 and nailed it home in a very pissed off mood......:cursing:

I hope all those who eventually made it had a great day and look forward to the pics. Me, I guess my patience does not extend to sitting in traffic for 2 hours!!! Mental note - next year get there at 7am......

Richard:blink:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Sorry you didn't make it.. Was a great day sunshine, track time and some interesting cars... Did manage to cook my breaks on the track though.... Really scary touching 130 on the straight the breaking for quarry and foot going straight to the floor thankfully third gear and huge pull on the hand break got me through :) nice to put some faces to names .... Saw a red vert on the way home with the AA !!!

and we crawled in at like 30mph no messing and i left without a single hold up :) shoulda got outta bed earlier richard.

I walked in cuz I cooked my PTU in the gridlock just a couple of miles from the circuit!!! AA just got me home.

Cheers

Paul

I guess so mate - but I thought getting there for 8.30-9.00 would be fine; which is just how I timed it!! Thing is, after queueing for an hour, BBC Wilts said that the A350 and A420 were slow due to Japfest traffic - yet most of the cars in the queue were clearly not Japfest traffic!!

What time did you arrive there?

I couldnt go due to other obligations. Shame I missed it. cant wait for pics

Sorry to here you did not make it Rich because of the traffic. It must of been a big event mate!

Cheers Gaz - thing is, the M4 was clear as anything so I made realy good time down to J17. I just could not believe that the whole of Castle Combe/Chippenham seemd to be gridlocked with show traffic before 9am, when there weren't that many Jap cars in the jam with me!!! And the few that were all turned round and looked like they'd had enough too......

.....and whilst I could have sat there another hour maybe (especially after driving 90-odd miles to get there), I didn't want to do it all again at home time!!

Next time, I'll aim to get there at 7. Or just not bother......:surrender:

I arrived just after 12 with the wife and kids and parked the troop carrier up at the back of the zed club stand. We then spent most of the afternoon trackside...got some pretty good video footage of the Dragon Performance RX7 spinning out and smacking into the wall....and got some pics afterwards of the damage
