So swapped our subaru b4 rsk tt for a 1992 300zx tt, a longtime dream car and today the turbo seals went spectacularly. Shame but it was eventually gonna need doing. but hey ho, any advice is welcomed greatly :)

nice looking motor... where are you from?

did you know turbo change means engine out?

  • Author

yes :( we had a nissan pulsar gti-r which was engine out for clutch change so the engine hoist is ready and waiting in the garage lol

not so much a turbo reply, but I like the car and feel it would look Ace if you had side skirts to lower the centre of the car to match the level of the bumpers at each end.

I've seen spoilerless 300's with deeper skirts etc and really think they are the mutts.

but opinion is personal and I except being told otherwise :)

Options are...........Buy DIY overhaul kits for the turbos.

buy exchange rebuilt turbos.

Buy some used known to be good turbos.

Buy some new aftermarket turbos.

As Baz already said nice mota... shame about the smoke. LOL!!

yes nice Zed there.

Is there any regular maintenance that can help with prolonging the the turbo seals?

I had to change mine on 200sx, and it was an engine drop job :(

Thanks, i said exactly the same about the sideskirts when i 1st saw it too. We've found some replacement turbos so going to p"pop" those on and rebuild the originals. She's the daily runner so needs to be sorted asap really.

And yes she needs a nice spoiler lol

Interiors tatty too so will be on the lookout for replacement once she's running again. Its red and black at the moment (yuk!) and worn and ripped but a little tlc and she'll be lookin' gooooood :)

Hi and welcome to the forum. Looks a nice 300 you have there, the only thing I don't like is the rear centre panel, in my opinion the standard one looks much better, but again it is all down to personal choice and each to their own.Hope you get your tubs sorted real soon.

Welcome to the club mate - and sorry to hear of your turbo woes....

....I hope you get it sorted as that looks a nice car otherwise!! Good luck mate....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Nice mate.

Apart from your scooped nose panel, from the front and side, your car looks suspiciously like mine...... you've clearly got good taste

CarMad on here does some great skirts for the Zed and they really are needed if you've got aftermarket front and back. I hope you get the tubs sorted nice and easy.

Oh and welcome to the club.

Very nice mate. AS Pab said i do some skirts that will be perfect for your kit. Welcome to the forum

the plug on the side and gravity so yeah, looks like you are doing it the correct way for a DIY job lol

Glad she is all up and running nicely, not that bad a job getting the engine out just time consuming when you haven't don't it on a zed before.
