I'm pretty used to it now, not that much different to use really, well, it is, but not really, if that makes sense, just looks different and a few things are in a different place. There are 1 or 2 little things which could be improved, but they are still ironing it out, like when I click on notifications, I'd like to be able to click on new message or something to write a new message, but, it's not the end of the world...

has there been a poll on what people think

or is that it andthats the way its staying ???

guess im too old skool (prefer the old one)

I like the new forum.

The Rides section is rubbish now though. It needs a bit of a re-structure. I liked how it was before with the 'most viewed', 'recently edited' lists etc.

I enjoyed scrolling through the old rides section, but now the lay out is poop (technical term).

Quite like it really yes a couple of glitches in it that people are working on would love them to be done like yesterday but hey the guys who are doing it do it as a hobby so I for one can wait for some of the other features that are an option on vb4 over VB3

To me big thumbs to the guy who swung it over from VB3 to VB4 as on z club we have been putting it of for 18 months as worried about alleged bugs that where there

Might be cheeky and contact him to get advise on how to do

Also well worth the £10 subscription renewal fee I have done in the last week

Yeah, but last time we changed it people complained for a while before they got used to it. It's progress ! ;)

I have a few niggly problems since we swaped over. dont think there was much wrong with the old one tbh. just needed updating a little.

Yeah the rides section sucks. ive not even bothered doing on. we should also have the little car under our names so you ccan go straight to there rides :)

The problem is that some of these features were add ons that are not supported under the current version of VB, so just replicating exactly what was there before isn't always possible.

I like the new fomat but the search option isn't as good! If you say type in something like "Aircon dead", then everything with the word aircon comes up and not releated to "Aircon Dead" also more common ones like "Boost Leak" everything with just the word boost from boost upgrades comes up!!!

Tottaly aggree with you Steve toooooooooooo

i like forum ... its progress

its like with any thing u use or buy really when it gets old

and u get a new one and u live with the diffrent's

i'm all for the new forum

and i'm sure the niggles will be sorted soon

My only gripes are that the icons showing if there are new posts or not contrast poorly. forum_old-48.pngforum_new-48.png

And the huge amount of padding in the margins between posts. I have a big monitor, but I can only fit three one-line text-only replies on screen at a time!

!

ive mentioned this before, but didnt word it as good as this lol

It takes a little getting used to but when you get used to the new setup its great there are a few bugs to be sorted but it takes time. At the end of the day its the members that make it great so a big thanks to you our members for choosing to post here. Thanks guys and girls:thumbup1:

My opinion is there are better themes out there for VB than this. But I'm used to it now so would rather its not changed again lol

Plus there is a rides mod available for this version of VB because I run the exact same mod for SMF on JW.

i preffered the old format . it was a lot easier to search for things . i do appreciate the efforts that have been put into getting this format working but it seems that lots of members arnt that thrilled about it.

The old one did more and did it better.

Did I miss why it was changed?

I fully understand what you mean - but we were running on an old version of the "VB forum software" which was becoming out of date and was not readily compatible with potential new add-ons (like iPhone etc - please bear with me as I'm no IT techie....!). Hence we took the plunge and upgraded to the latest version of the VB software.

Luckily we have Lee (JaiKai) on board as he was able to push this change forward - and iron out the bugs and gremlins as they arose. Even I was not a fan at first - to be honest I am a dinosaur and like tradition/familiarity etc.... But I have quickly adapted to it and now the new forum has become so second nature that I can barely remember the old format!!

Thanks for the kind support Steve.....

.....I believe that we took a big chance in upgrading to the newest version of the software but thankfully with Lee in the driving seat, the transition has not been as problematic as other forums' users have reported. Yes there are still a couple of issues that need resolving - and I dare say that we will still discover a few more as time moves on - but resolve them we will. And ultimately this will make the forum better and more useable (on various mediums); thus ensure our continued future for years to come!

On behalf of the committee I thank not just Lee for implementing the new software; but also the members for their support, feedback, criticism, praise and above all for bearing with us whilst the transition took place!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
