This thread is to gauge the interest in buying a module to enable the mirrors on a JDM zed to auto fold and open utilising the ignition/key.

The switch can be used as normal, so will not affect it working manually, but have been asked many a time about the facility to auto fold.

Will also work in conjunction with a turbo timer:punk:

I have had an email from an avid Jap car owner who has made the modules that will work with our JDM mirror switches and will auto fold when the key in the ignition is turned off and will open again when the key is turned. Im looking at having it operate utilising the door solenoids to open and fold using the key fob.

Here are a couple of links to the unit and in action

Get your names down if you are interested in a group buy, we need at least 20 names to have the modules made at a price of £21 inc paypal fees and postage

Like the idea, its something I've wanted for a while. However I don't like the thought of the mirrors being in even if i don't want them in.

Read my post above ;) It's quite possible and easy to override the auto function.

I've been using my original prototype in various cars for about 5 years now and wouldn't be without one.

My way is simple and effective, contained in a small, shock- & moisture-proof enclosure which can be hidden under the switch. The mirrors can be folded in with the switch whilst the ignition is on or left in full auto mode and folded in/out with the ignition. I'm happy with the way my module operates. I'm not changing it ;)

If you would like to do something different, please feel free to develop your own solution to Nissan's oversight.

I'll withdraw. Seems a bit silly

This thread seems to have died. Shame really, the other forums that I did this GB on thought it was a nice idea and were very happy with what I supplied. You can't please everyone I suppose ;)

Offer withdrawn / GB cancelled.

shame, i thought 15 sales was quite a good start, its not often you see that much instant interest on this forum. personally i thought we were waiting for Groover to meet up with you and report back on how the fitting went, and then expected more people would sign up.

so how much are they to buy not as part of the group buy?

Hmm, I counted 12, a bit of disagreement and then silence ;)

Looking at the link that phutumsch quoted, it seems that chap had to link up 3 relays just to make the mirrors fold out when the engine was off. I provided a way to do that just by adding a switch to the main supply for my unit. I thought that was fairly elegant.

If I've been a little hasty in cancelling this, then I apologise, but the tone of this page of the thread seemed to indicate that it was going nowhere...

I don't sell these individually as they're a ball-ache to make, frankly. Hence the GB so it was worth it.

I even got an auto window closer from the same company. at the touch of a button while walking away both windows roll up and the mirrors fold in. (Damn I look cool).

When I come back. Unlock with the keyfob and the mirrors fold back out.

If I want to override it I just leave the folding switch in the open position.

I would recommend to all if you want this feature to buy the module ebay linked by Dave Brock, I bought one months ago and finally got round to getting it fitted - here is the link again

If it doesn't work for whatever reason into the future just search using words such like, auto, mirror, fold and folding.

I have fit mine and I am going to tell you which coloured wire goes where, this is the four wires connected at the switch - quite self explanatory these. FYI, instructions are included with the module.

In this next pic you can see the four shooting off that go the switch itself, that leaves the 5 wires still to connect and these head towards the in-line fuse and away out of shot.

Yellow wire needs to go to 'acc on' or ignition live, the red to a permanent live, the black to ground.

That leaves two wires, Green and Blue, these are your trigger wires, on mine these are joined together and go to the window closure module that is linked to my alarm.

Now this is what it does :-

The mirror switch does still work manually, so you still maintain full cabin control.

If the mirror switch is left in any position, I just need to leave the vehicle, press and hold down my fob alarm button and the mirrors fold in (the windows will also lift at this point if there were down). It is only the holding down on my fob that triggers the window lift and mirror fold, one quick press on the fob will just lock the doors and alarm the vehicle.

I actually leave the mirror switch in the central position as there is no need for me to have it anywhere else.

With mirrors having been folded in the night before, I turn alarm off with the fob which is one quick press and not a press and hold down, of course this opens the doors also, as soon as I turn the key to the 'acc' position the mirrors fold out

You can have the module located near the radio console clock - plenty of room here and no wires need extending.

It works exactly as I wanted it to with 100% control and would recommend to all.

Ebay is littered with these units for about £12 or something. Much cheaper, easier and work just as well. Was this not covered in a thread a month or so back??

Sorry for the last post! Didn't realise this was the old thread and didn't scroll to the last post. My bad.
