I am new to z's as I had a skyline before... Looking currently for a Z' and finds a lot of ads with SWB or LWB in the description... Am I wrong in thinking Short or Long wheel base???

Featured Replies

you are correct in thinking that buddy. If you have a look in the FAQ section there is a thread all about the different models etc.

come to japfest in may and compare the 2

Be lucky if you see a shorty or a slicktop there as there was none last year as far as i could see until i turned up :D

The vast majority of Z's in the UK are LWB, something like 85-90%. All LWB's came with Targa/T-top roof panels, but a small percentage of SWB's were also available as Slicktop (regular metal roof) or full Convertible models.

All UK models are LWB, whereas Imports were available in each configuration. The easiest way to tell the difference between SWB and LWB at first glance is the location of the Petrol filler cap. On the LWB is is rearward of the rear wheels and in the SWB it is in front of them.

The reason skylines are top of the food chain is simple math. its cheaper to get the bang for the buck on mods (which is strange as skylines seem to be more expensive than zeds, so kind of defeats the argument really LOL). but until you have been in a twinturbo healthy lightly modded zed. dont put all your eggs in one basket.

Ooh and im not biased, as i was originally looking at a R33 before i got a zed.

Honestly we are all here because we have a love for Jap cars so its a mutual respect dosnt matter if it is a Skyline, 300zx, Supra, rx7 or any of the highly tuned performance cars... And again either way its Nissan, 200sx, Skyline orany of the Z's, they are all legends in their own rights, so I will never knock any of them regadless of which 1 I own at the time...
