That's a realy nice 300, low miles, well servised, full mot and rust free but that would need to be checked but even so I like it my only worry is he says the rear spoiler is cracked so I imagine it still has the rubber one which will soak in water like a sponge but still not the end of the world.View before buying.

Just cos none is visable doesnt mean its not there. If the rear spoiler has soaked up water enough to drip down and bloe thr rear centre panel I expect the tailgate is fulla rot

I dont for 1 second think its rust free.

Just wondered what you guys thought of it.

Apart from one of the sills on mine, I thought it was rust free. Pulled up the carpet near the ECU and behold a tonne of rust. Also along the windscreen when I pulled back the rubber :( I find it hard to believe a UK Nissan has zero rust to be fair. It's only the likes of VAG stuff where they properly rustproof them, are generally clean underneath.

you say that, but even those arnt perfect my mates golf which are said to be great at not rotting when the engine blew we broke it for spares removing the outter wings revield nasty mot failing rot on the a pillar by the tim eyou would have seen it without taking them off it would have been farrrrrr to late to do much about it.

mines a uk tt and the only spot of rust anyone can find on it is half the size of a 5p on the rear wing and im getting that sorted soon!! although i am dreading that one day the rear sills will show their age and fall to bits

the rear sills dont go because of old age, they go because nissan decided to stick a metal tube holder onto the inner skin to hold the pipe for the rear targa drain tube, this then rots from inside out.

It does look a nice find........

.......and for the record my UK spec also appears rust free...... Sure there must be some lurking somewhere, but it is remarkably clean. And Jeff also mentioned it was sound when he undersealed it for me.....!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

whats the best way to avoid this then? ive used a spray on sealer inside the sills but with no real way to see if they are rusting whats the best action?

sorry to jack the thread btw

My UK was and is rust free. There was a bit of rot on the tailgate in the middle caused by the oem spoiler but it was easily removed and fixed. Sills and underneath are spot less. Don't assume that they are all rust buckets because there are gems out there :)

unfortunately its a waiting game unless you want to do your sills even if they are good, as you really cant do much about it until its started rusting as the outer skin needs removing to sort out the actual cause, when i come to do mine, ill be extending the drain tube down so it hangs out side the car.

there are some great uk ones left ,mines in great condition and spent a week with jeff, he under sealed it for me but then again my never sees the rain

If you really want to see what your sills are like, borrow a borescope, snap-on do one with a 8mm diameter tip. Take the kick panels off and pull the carpet back, peel the tape covering the holes in the inner sill and put the camera in there, right up and down the length of the sill!! I have looked inside a few "rust free" sills. Some were in fact rust free and others that looked rust free from outside actually had "Free Rust"!!

It is an eye opener
