This is the steering wheel we are looking to get for the zed.

Nicely black and silver so should go very well with everything else I am doing to the car with the interior mods so far. It will be a pop off wheel.

What I am not sure about is how it is going to look 'through'/surrounding the wheel. The center of this steering wheel is so much smaller than the standard setup, and the housing behind has a very large hole. I'm concerned that you can see into the plastic surround / the gap inside, once this is fitted.

I'll pop a pic up of what I mean:

I know plenty have replaced their standard steering wheel with an aftermarket one so wondered if anyone has a straight-on photo of something similar so I know if I want to do a few more pedantic mods before spraying it all up. :)

Hi Rose,

Watching this with interest. I bought mine with a nice momo wheel, but the boss is horrendous and does not cover the gap.. looks a mess. it also has a centre push horn, but trying to find a nice boss with horn attachments isnt as easy as I thought. Im too looking at where to house a new horn switch. You then dont need to worry about the wheel or the boss.. The OMP boss look pretty good but more expensive than others..

Will need to decide what Im going to do before the mot..

I also like the momo wheel without the yellow label, but like the one you put up as well..

Really dont like those Nardi wheels for the Zed though..

Kev

I still need to see the boss fitting in the zed though. All may say it fills the gap/fits fine, but I'm more pedantic than most :p

Any pics out there?... anyone? ... ah well, the spraying will have to be put on hold until the boss kit arrives then. Thankfully, the location of the horn switch has been pointed out by Harby300 too :)

I'm trying to modify reasonably tasteful on this zed which is why I am approaching for opinion a bit more. It would be nice to find a happy medium with the finished look rather than do my usual 'gung ho' lol :D

The Boss kit also arrived ...... but no snap off kit in sight yet :(

oh... and RIP mr momo ....

i dunno why any bothers to change the standard steering wheel, unless its going to be a track car etc. the standard one is in my opinion a lovely looking thing it refelcts the lines within the centre console has that z logo on it and yeah its nice lol

Couldn't agree more. But each to their own and all that :cool3:

Simple, we wanted one we could "snap-off" and a worn standard steering wheel didn't really feel like it was worth the kit ;)

tbh I quite like the stock one too, although it is a little larger than I'd like (Hence the aftermarket one) and this one really is nice to touch and feel etc. Probably not worth the £160 it cost to be fair, but we had money sat in paypal and we fancied it, so we bought it :D

what front bumper are you fitting the 99spec??

huh? Little confused - the only 99ish spec in Alex's signature is the black and yellow one that is now RIP. Everything is for the grey 1991 UK one (which always drove the best - most importantly), We have a Scarab bumper in the shed..... plus other sanded down parts like sideskirts, vented bonnet etc but I am selfish, so how it drives and the interior I look at and sound I hear comes before the outside lol :) - plus it's small parts I can bring in out of the cold to work on at the moment :p

I havn't given any attention to the bumper yet so it's still sat in some crazy dark blue/purple with metal flake at the moment.

This weekend will hopefully bring more piccies, the fantastic wheels we bought off you, new suspension, new steering wheel, new dial cluster and pod mods, best of the leather dressed interior out of the yellow Z, but the outside is a bit dire, some welding to do, and an ice install to finish in a different car it started in! :D

i have a similar wheel to the one in the first pic, its ok but the quality is not top notch imo, ....not sure how long mine has been fitted as it was on the car when i got ot but ive already replaced all the alan keys holding the Nissan badged cap down and they are again working there way slowly loose

im looking at a similar wheel now on e bay so may see if that is any better !

If you like it, then for the price, I think it's brilliant and I bet it lasted a few years before the issues you are having. :)

Nice one :) my choice :)

blinkin' snap off kit still isn't here - they won't be getting great feedback after literally everything else that was ordered the same day is here :(

I'm keen to see how it looks installed with the pod mods.

Well, I have to say I'm very pleased with it. We've had to put the driver seat a bit further back though, it's amazing what a difference that tiny bit extra length does due to the snap off part being on there. It feels a foot closer to my chest lol. :)
