The Z's been off the road for 16 months and was running fine when last used, now when i start it the engine floods with fuel right away and i end up having to take plugs out to get it going again. It sort of ticks over if i keep it at 1500rpm but as soon as i try to move it just pops bangs and cuts out??

Any ideas chaps?

fuel pressure reg might of gone fubar, or the fuel dampener, both easy to change as they sit right on top of the engine. might be an idea to get a pressure gauge in the fuel line and see if its holding the correct pressure, think its 42psi iirc.

yeah i agree with ian. is an easy check if nothing else. Do all of the cyldnders flood? or just the same ones each time? the injectors could be failing open. other cause could be air mass meter giving you trouble. mine ideled like bag of crap and wint rev past about 2500 also with the weather recently you may have sucked up some watyer or it could have dribbled onto it, causing itto be buggered. just some thinking points for you.

First check should be the temp ensor on the top water inlet pipe ( not the one with single wire) crud on this caused by the car sitting around will flood the engine in no time.

To save removing the plugs all the time, remove the fuseble link for the fuel in the small relay/link box by the brake servo, crank engine about 3 or 4 times and it should clear it.
