There's been so much vandalism and thefts recently that I've decided to get

some security installed that covers my zeds at night - and the wife's herbie too.

 

Every second week or so there's cops at the door asking if you seen or heard

anything the other night when the neighbours tyres got slashed or even when

somebody nicked our brown wheelie bin.

 

So I thought I've chanced my luck long enough and have bought my self one of these :

 

 

I've done CCTV before with wiring up around 12 cameras at my work so don't

think this job will be too hard to install.

 

I plan to put it under the eaves of the rear top corner of my house and run the

cable needed for it in through the loft down into my office.

 

It's a fairly wide angle lense and at the height it's going should cover my full drive

and most of the neighbours front door area so I doubt they would have any issues

About me installing it !

 

Any others folks here using CCTV to covers there zeds ?

probally shouldnt have said exactly where your gonna put it, someone will have a ladder up, nick the camera then your car

Well to be honest it's two floors up and the average ladder won't reach and an

extended ladder will only get to it if my locked gate is open !

 

They'll be well spotted if they do try and get to it !

Put a dummy camera with an alarm on it lower down so you know if anyone is messing and keep a baseball bat by the front door.....

I feel his pain, I've had my cream paper wheelie bin nicked twice now, little turds nick it and set it on fire in a field nearby, 20 quid for a new one, barstewards, thinking of putting a propane cannister in the bottom of my new one, hidden by newspapers, just as they get their marshmellows out, bang, hehehehe.... :gunsmilie:

If you're going to be recording the output of that camera, it will need to go to a recorder that can overlay a time & date. Without that on the recorded video it cannot be used as evidence.

already got a pc based card and assured cctv software from jdlds.com,

basically it will run on a silent atom based min pc.

if you make 1 cm holes along the base of your bin the resulting explosion and flames will shoot out of there and hopefully set their pants on fire lol

may as well chuck in a few nails and ball bearings take out the fookers properly !

When I was young silly and drunk my mate jim was lobbing allsorts on a huge bonfire, like full tins of beans etc.

He wandered off and then lobbed something on it

Be quite something when some one climbs up to the camera, gets electricuted by the security light, as he hits the floor the the loose live wire lands on the bin igniting the butane can firing the nails and ball bearings out which breaks your zeds window and out jumps a dogshit covered starving dog, just as the police arrive you are coming out the door with your baseball bat, who promptly arrest you and use your own evedence off your own camera, with its date and time against you. You end up having to sell your zed and your house to pay the attempted theif off in compensation cos he can never work again!!!

Just a thought but if security is your goal how about something that will stop them driving off even if they manage to get past your car alarm: a quick release steering wheel hub! And it just so happens I'm selling one of the better makes in my thread in the For Sale section, just look for the one with "My BIG For Sale" in the title :)

They wont of....... but it wont stop the vermin from screwing you because they cant now even if they did want to, which they dont!!!
