I just phoned up regarding an insurance quote on my '91 Fairlady ZX Twin Turbo Auto, and was staggered to hear the price.

Sex: Female

Age: 25

NCB: 2

Insurer: Footman James

Price: £239.40

Of course this is classic insurance, but it's fully comprehensive SDP&C with 3000 miles a year. Anyone got some recommendations of other companies at all?

Thanks

Hahaa!

Erm based on the fact that I'm 25, male, with 7yrs no claims and I thought 700 was good, id say you've got yourself a v.good price!!

 Leo your a funny barsteward mate.

Also you could try lynbrook, classic car insurance again, but you can limit the mileage to 8K. You do need to have another car insured in your name though.

lol I'm 28 with no NCD but a clean licence and on standard road insurance (i.e. not classic, limited mileage or agreed value) I get around £700 before instalment costs like interest etc.

Can't beat sky insurance. All mods declared like for like replacement. Fully comp insured for 15000. £740

I,m with Graham Sykes , all mods declared with limited mileage but i am 45 , £300 .

If you're over 25 (30 in some cases) and the car is over 20 years old, then it qualifies as classic :p

Yup - it sure does. Although a lot of classic insurers do ask that you have another car (a daily driver or a company car) to qualify for classic insurance.

And the car does not necessarily have to be over 20 years old - some insurers allow 15 year old cars also.... Lynbrooks has insured mine as a classic since I've had it - and it's a 1994:thumbup:

holy crap how did you manage that!?!? that's got to be the lowest quote on the forum!!

LOL - it's certainly a good quote Dave....

.....Footman James seem to be coming up trumps this year so I will have to try them next month! I believe I paid about £235 last November for a 5k mile policy - so it will be interesting to see what Lynbrooks come up with this time.....:chris:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

£194 on my shortie' TT manual with Lyndbrook, though I'm sure someone on the forum recently got their quote a few £ cheaper

the problem with classic policies is that the insurers tend to require that the Z not be the main daily driver, which unfortunately mine is (or rather should be when I sort out the power drain :headvswal )

Footman James, 25yo male, 1 fault accident, 0NCB, 3000 miles, £183.

I've updated the vehicle list at FJ so we can offer classic policies on all Z's regardless of age. Don't forget to mention you're a member of this club!

I would still be interested in putting a deal together for the club and becoming their affiliated insurer. If someone on the committee would like to drop me a pm we can discuss?

Dave

Just had my renewal through and I was pretty happy with it, but seeing all your prices I think I'll do some shopping around.

22 year old male, 3 years NCB, driving for 4 years, one accident but not at fault and got £1,170 from Admiral on a '91 UK TT.

Most classic policies with insurance companies wont insure me due to my age :(

Hi Dave

I will give you call tomorrow as I am thinking of getting a Zed, and need a good deal on insurance. I did an online quote with your company and it came up with £440 fully comp but would like to get that down after reading what other people are paying.

Cheers

Justin

Only issue i found with footman James, is they wouldn't insure my modified 300zx and wanted my mileage at 5k miles per year, other than that, if it was completely standard i got a online quote of £465, which although is good, is still £110 above my latests renewal that's due on the 7th of march, so i phoned them they got it down to £310 which is 30 lower than my current renewal, but then when asked if it was modified, after giving all the details over they would not insure on a modified 300zx sadly other wise id of ripped there arm off for that. good quote though if you have a non modified zed its well worth a venture, beats adrian flux with the £4200 with the 15% member discount? lol
