I'd be keen to know this, was just about to try fitting it but it's too hot and I'd just spent a couple of hours curing my suspension issue, so came back inside, but I have a Koyo too.

it was boiling hot when i tried to fit it so maybe i missed something so have a try and see if you can get it to fit.

Well Mikey has just been fitting his new intercoolers and oil cooler, so while it was up in the air we offered up the lower strut brace to see, it should fit (Bare in mind he has a japspeed rad, not a koyo) but might need the jubilee clip putting in a very specific place. I've got a teleconference in a minute, but once I'm done with that and Mikey is out of the garage I'm going to have a go at fitting it :D

The short answer is:

It don't ****ing fit!

The slightly longer answer is:

The lower strut brace from Japspeed does not fit the 300zx. I have only tried it with a Koyo rad, not a standard one, but the standard one has the same lower pipe as my Koyo, so I see no difference there, in addition, it isn't long enough, extended all the way out to the last couple of threads, it's just about long enough, but who'd want a strut brace that was only held in by a couple of threads?

Rose won't let me try this on her Jap spec with a standard rad, because she says if it won't fit with an uprated rad, it's not worth it.

So does the bottom rad pipe foul on the brace with the wider rad. If so i should imagen the stock one would fit??

glad it wasnt the heat getting to me! hope japspeed will accept returns!

Well Japspeed won't be open until tomorrow, let's see what Steams comes up with on his standard rad. Essentially the Koyo is only 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch wider than stock, but I suppose it could make all the difference in such a tight space, I hadn't thought about that, I just looked at the location of the pipe, which is absolute bottom absolute end.

ZXTT said on the buy it now thread that he fitted his and that it was close fit to his rad but dont know what type of rad he has!

dan.:)

I'm gunna guess he has a standard rad, but we'll see I guess. I really am disappointed about this, after fitting the standard suspension with lowering springs to replace my un-adjustable Teins, the car has more roll back obviously, I was hoping this was going to help stiffen it up a bit more :(

perhaps with this being an aftermarket part and most uprated Z's run a koyo style rad and japspeed obviously aiming for the modified/drift scene they could modify the brace to fit!! :whistling:

Well I tried mine today with the standard manual rad and it doesn't fit for the same reason as stated. The lower pipe is in the way. My box has a sticker on it saying "Tension Brace for S13 S14". Doesn't fit a zed, I know that :cursing:

Think it's money back time.

tried mine today with Koyo rad and you got absolutly no chance..:(

Shame I did, I bought 2, one for mine and one for Roses.

Oh well, time for a very upset but polite "Can I has my moneyz back please?" phone call tomorrow then :(

The z centre have started selling it too it also looks identical to japspeeds one

Hi, Just noticed this thread. (HollowPoint) you are right I am running a standard rad. The brace does sit very close to the lower rad pipe and I did run the engine to pressure up the system before dropping it off the axle stands and it seems fine.

I know what you mean about the last couple of threads, it is close and could do with a larger centre piece for our cars due to their width. I think the brace is designed to fit most Nissans and isn't specifically for our 300's and as a result it is close to the limit.

Japspeed are great people and I am sure they will look after you if you speak to them tomorrow.

All the best.

Cheers for the update mate, much appreciated.

Yeah I second that, speak to paul I believe his name is they are a very friendly and helpful company and will prob be glad of the feed back

Hey Guys, As ZXTT said he also wondered about fitment with the pipe and was originally struggling to fit the item but got it to fit fine in the end.

If you guys are not happy with the quality or fit of the item then we are happy to accept a return. I am going to look into this and get 300ZX in to our workshop and get down to the bottom of this, as far as we were aware this fits all Nissan S13 S14 S15 R32 R33 R34 AND 300ZX.

If it appears that it needs any changes making to it to fit the 300zx we will get this done and then sell it as a specific item to fit the 300ZX

If you would like to return your item for a full refund then please email me at sales@japspeed.co.uk with a note of your order number and I will send you a returns form for you to send the item back. As soon as it is back I will then immediately issue your refund.

Im gonna get mine over a pit during the week and try again ill take some good pics of the issues and if I get round them. I have a Koyo rad so might help you understand the probs.

Hey Craig, that will be great, as I said we have never had this problem reported to ourselves before.

As stated we are more than happy to accept a return from anyone who has bought one and cant get the item to fit.

We are already in the process of looking into this and making any changes that are required, it sounds like it may need a longer centre piece.

Some things for the various Nissan's are meant to be generic, but often the method of fitting can be slightly different.

For some of the oldies here will remember i used to have a section with detailed instructions and pictures ( more importantly) of products being fitted on Zeds, even though every product was designed around my own Zed before final manufature and then sale.

In many cases the fitting was not done as per the written instructions, the detailed with pics section then solved that problem.

So in short maybe same sorta thing for Japspeed products would be good?
