Thread Closed!!!! lol!! Club suggestions??

Don't even think about it!! lol!!

I come back from Japshow Finale and every thread with club suggestions is deleted and/or closed!!

You lot can't be left on your own for five minutes!!! And as for the members....:whistling: Only kidding!

Right so, back to the point -

For me, it's simple.

1. The club bank account grows by "an amount" per year. Fact. the figures are here http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=94723 but I can't tell if it's £1,500 or £2,500 after expenses per year. This is great news!!

2. The club account presently has £25,000 of the members money in it. Fact

3. Since the inception of the club there has never been a £25,000 emergency. Fact.

What a great position to be in!!

We have £25,000 in the bank and we have never needed to use it!!

I'm sure we have insurance so it should not be needed anyway.

My suggestion is that we stop growing the deposit by what ever it is per year and instead spend the net amount from the previous year on this years members in the way of Japanese car events or events of some description.

Let's divide this left over budget into each region and see what events we all want to attend by a member poll. This should result in more localised meets and I expect that each region will want to attend some of the same events such as JAE, Japshow etc. So not only are we doing more regionally but also nationally.

As for the £25,000 I would like to see some of this invested in capital equipment such as banners for each region and gas BBQ's. Yes I love my food!

What do the REO's think? What does the NEO think?

What do the members in each region think??

Cheers!

Thing is, most things can be done without needing to chip into the clubs money.

All you need is willing people, and some organisers...

10% off a show ticket, i dont really see the point. If its £20 a ticket, you'll save £2.

The cost of petrol etc, whats £2?

I dont think you need money to have a good time, just willing.

Well you know your all welcome to the seaside, got a friend with a couple of hotels who puts on an excellent breakfast (for you Andy) and is very accomadating with his Bar (for you Pablito) who I know would do it at excellent rates. A bucket and a hose, and then a cruise round the seafront??? And there is always the possibilitie of the use of the local road race circuit (I`d have to find out more about that, but I know it`s been done before).

On another note, I`m definatley up for a track day or similar, these cars still have engineering way ahead of most modern cars and I for one would love to see what they`re capable of on the track!

Hello Dave!!!!

I've been trying to track you down on here to say hello!!

Really good to meet you (and your son and his mate) at JAE!

I must admit it's a bit of a trek up to Scarborough but never say never!!

I agree, it would be great to see this club attend more track orientated meets but if it doesn't happen then I can normally be found at things like Japfest at Castle Coombe with the Zclub. Make sure you put some extra oil in though as the long right handers are known to be Z killers through oil starvation - unless you have a dry sump set up.

I ended up with a Pedobear sticker on my car at Japshow Finale last weekend !!

well get the club to pay half then. I just think we need to be at 3/4 shows a year and as a club we need to make the effort at the shows not just one show. JAE is like 4 hours for me to get to and im willing to travel but it works both ways as a club we should decide what shows we are going to put a stand at and make sure we have a good turn out for each show. Track days etc are best kept local as im not willing to risk blowing up my zed and being 4 hours from home

i also think the reason these threads appear after JAE is because you all have a good time and you all start asking why dont we do this more offten?

If we did 3/4 shows per year and tried to split them evenly across the country eg location / north south east west etc, more of the membership will at leat have the opportunity to get to a good show, Obviouosly this depends on what shows are available I know but it would make things a little fairer.

Daff mate.. he's an knob jockey.

Davegt40 I like the idea of a trip to the beach

Oi Brokeback it's more the fact that at the last committee meeting they asked me to run the junior section that worries me!

Worries you?!!!

It's the parents that should be worried!!

Still at least you are aloud on the golf course after being banned from the swimming pool. They can't prove how come the "S" fell off your Speedo's.

sorry if this has already been mentioned, but with the cash discussed earlier, would it niot be prudent to invest it. ie im thinking, we should do what many other clubs do capri club etc...when parts go out of circulation which is ocuring more and more the club should invest in there patterns. im thinking back to a recent thread about the cost of repair pannels for sills. evenually these will only be available as non genuine parts. so the club could buy the rights to remanufactures items such as this over time and form an actual club shop. face it guys the cars are 21 years old now in some cases, so parts are gonna be getting short on the ground soon, investment in the patterns for parts is the only way to ensure the long term survival of the mark.

seconded ......and having been in the afore mentioned club i can see the sound thinking

oh and when you was all on about a club van to transport stuff has anyone put any thoughts in to a club box trailer? no tax, insurance or mot to worry about just storage oh and the small detail of a tow bar on a zed?????

Now that is one well thought out suggestion!

Although at present we have good old MJP to source/supply our parts, this can only last as long as the car continues to have a big following in the USA. As Mike can still import spares in bulk for our benefit.

But no doubt the day will come.....!

thanks guys for your kind words, i think we should also do an anual magazine. few articals from club members about their cars history etc. few pages with zeds in action aswel, would be great to recieve a nice little glossy magazine with photos of meets and race events. maybe some trader adverts etc. im not talking about a feature length 200 page magazine, but 20-30 pages possibly. i for one would look forward to this turning up once a year. be nice as a mometo thing for members aswel. obviously the magazine would be paid or by the club, and only subscribed members would get it free. at christmas maybe? just a thought.

Excellent idea's there buddy, the magazine once a year would be awesome.

1. Well done Andy for achieving what I failed to.

2. Good ideas in this thread, keep em coming.

3. Having also been a member of Capri club and having been partly responsible for Retro Ford (Now largest classic ford broker in the country, I did his first website and turned him from an accountant to a full time parts supplier :D) I agree with the idea of holding parts of manufacturing rights to the parts, I for one have already experienced the unavailable parts scenario for my own Z, that situation is only going to get worse!

I recently suggested something similar to Chris (ck300z) at JAE, but in the form of expanding the website. The costs are much lower, the availability is much higher, I personally am far more likely to read something online than I am a magazine. A prime example of that is my subscription to things like Linux Magazine, the magazines are all stacked up on a shelf and I think I've read maybe 2 of them all year, and that was only on trains and planes when travelling. Yet I read this forum everyday and others, plus theregister.co.uk etc. Granted not all are like me, but if you're a member of this club, you have a computer and you visit this site.

Well, I can't tell you how disappointed I am at a whole month of "radio silence" on this topic.

For this reason I have accepted a position of REO on another site where I intend to follow through with some of my ideas.

I really was hoping for a change here but never mind.

Andy

Congrats Andy, I know your ideas are great. Club meets should be so much more successful with the right man at the helm.

This was a very well put together thread with some fine ideas and plenty of good intentions.

Andy mate - we haven't gone silent on the subject! There are quite a few things to consider, plus the whole club meet scene will no doubt go flat during the winter. However I personally like the idea of REOs being provided with an annual budget to arrange events in their areas.

We are currently reviewing the various options for the ensuing year so please watch this space.

As for the comments since Andy's post, I can see this has the potential to degenerate very quickly so I'm closing the thread.

If anyone has anything constructive to say on the matter please feel free to PM me. As I said, things are under discussion so please watch this space!
