Thread Closed!!!! lol!! Club suggestions??

Don't even think about it!! lol!!

I come back from Japshow Finale and every thread with club suggestions is deleted and/or closed!!

You lot can't be left on your own for five minutes!!! And as for the members....:whistling: Only kidding!

Right so, back to the point -

For me, it's simple.

1. The club bank account grows by "an amount" per year. Fact. the figures are here http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=94723 but I can't tell if it's £1,500 or £2,500 after expenses per year. This is great news!!

2. The club account presently has £25,000 of the members money in it. Fact

3. Since the inception of the club there has never been a £25,000 emergency. Fact.

What a great position to be in!!

We have £25,000 in the bank and we have never needed to use it!!

I'm sure we have insurance so it should not be needed anyway.

My suggestion is that we stop growing the deposit by what ever it is per year and instead spend the net amount from the previous year on this years members in the way of Japanese car events or events of some description.

Let's divide this left over budget into each region and see what events we all want to attend by a member poll. This should result in more localised meets and I expect that each region will want to attend some of the same events such as JAE, Japshow etc. So not only are we doing more regionally but also nationally.

As for the £25,000 I would like to see some of this invested in capital equipment such as banners for each region and gas BBQ's. Yes I love my food!

What do the REO's think? What does the NEO think?

What do the members in each region think??

Cheers!

But i do know what people are on about when you get a low turn out at meets, really does make you feel "why bother"

That is the biggest stumbling block, when you arrange everything and the ones that say they will attend do not turn up, it's then a big disappointment. The organiser then doesn't want to do the same thing again.

My other club applies for the tickets to the shows, as I said it's free, but if for any reason someone then does not turn up they are charged £5.00 for the cost of their ticket, thus giving an insentive to arrive where you have said you will......lol

We could add name badges to the membership pack? Personally, I have used the keyring, but the tax disc holder is too big for my liking so sits on the microwave doing nowt now.. Can't remember what else was in the membership pack, but nothing that made me think - oh wow, that was really worth it! Doesn't need to be anything too blingy, but something understated so we don't feel like we're 7 and wearing a birthday badge! That way, everyone would have one for club meets!

Oh yeah, weren't we supposed to get stickers in the membership pack?

A decent embroidered club polo shirt/T.shirt (with forum/user name on the back and smaller name on front) would work nicely.

Don't Jeff and the Zedworld staff wear tidy looking embroidered polo shirts or did I just imagine that?

Maybe a nice quality enamel name badge rather than tacky 'birthday boy' badge as mentioned previously

Hi everyone,

with the exeption of Andy earlier, the committee has been notably absent on this thread to see how things would develop.

And develop it has - (mainly...) into the kind of intelligent and reasonable debate that I would have expected from forum members who have something worthwhile to say.

All I would like to add, is that we do read threads like this and we do take note of the worthwhile things that our members have to say. We do hold "conference call" meetings from time to time, to discuss the running of the forum and what we can do to improve things - hence the introduction of the "club & website suggestions" section a while back.....

We have taken note of some of the content of this thread (and Voddy's previous one about JAE) and have already begun conversations among ourselves. So all I can say for now, is "watch this space...."

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Well my votes are for prize draws and a club calendar. This year I have an Aston Martin calendar hanging on the wall. Last year I had a Ferrari calendar. The year before that I had a sexy 300zx.co.uk calendar, with club members cars featuring each month. How about the club part-subsidising the production of these, and selling to members at a discounted price. Get member's interest and payment upfront so you're not let down by non-payers like we were before.

PS. I'm loving the positive energy and ideas in this thread - let's keep it up! :)

I vote for daZvert to supply the pictures for the calender....

The calender is a great fund raising idea. but I think caps or tshirts with the logo on is a superb idea as instant club advertising!!

caps and t-shirts are already available, not sure if you can get them with your user name on them or not.

Id be interested in anything like this.. theres normally several on up in North Yorkshire. Im from the North East so need to think of travel, but these sort of events my whole family can enjoy them..

That's it mate, the whole family can enjoy them, and there isn't just cars attend, there are stalls where, yes you can buy car bits and pieces, but there are other stalls selling all sorts of other non car related items.

Sporting Bears are usually there, ever fancied a ride in a Lambo, Ferrari, Aston or the likes, for a donation to the charity, you get a 20 minute ride out in the car of your choice, cost depends on the choice of car.

They are great days out for the whole family.

I have just read the first 4 pages.... and this thread has just got sooooo long and gained good momentum...

Big up to Brokeback.... it pains me to say, but the voice of reason mate! And big up to the rest of you who have all stayed on track and come up with some very good, and very achievable ideas.

I will do whatever is asked of me to help out... I genuinely love this site, and have met some TOP people who i consider to be good friends, and i would love to see some of the positive changes suggested.

Let me know what i can do to help out, and get things moving in th eright direction.

First things first mate.

Just try staying off the kids.

Work is work, but all that "I want to keep my hand in at the weekend" stuff is just going to get you in trouble.

we need to do more for every member of the club that has paid a subscription not just those in specific areas, but it does need people to attend.

I like a few of the ideas that have been brought up by this thread, lets not get side tracked with pay pal fees, you can pay via a few means anyway, as long as you let Andy know with details so he can turn you green, or even pay with pay pal via gift if the fees bother you that much.

Things im liking the idea of so far though are.

- Regional banners

- Regional BBQ, doesnt have to be very big even a small portable one that fits in a zed. most regional meets tend to be small so a pilot scheme might be in order, unless someone has a small BBQ they don't mind taking with them.

- Few more of the big car events

I like the idea of running a yearly Zed calender, this might be one for Kim, where there is a poll put up and everyone votes for the cars they would most like to see in the calendar, the top 12 cars get in the calendar and to make it fair, those that were in the calendar one year cant be in the calendar the following year but can the year after, also, people entering their cars can only do so with recent pictures rather than old ones. with a small bit on the calendar that gives a small mention to the best parts of their zed, the one thing though for that would be cost, yes we could do it out of club funds, but to be honest it would be better as a merchandising thing like the club T-Shirts.

Other areas i like the ideas off are competitions, with prises like calendars, T-shirts with names on for winners or even JAE tickets (these are just ideas and not going to happen unless voted for by committee)

I know we have our yearly competition for the JAE turn out, but those who cant or do not wish to attend JAE i feel are being left out here. its ok spending money on meets to make the members have a good time, but not everyone who subscribes goes to meets or can even make it due to either work commitments / car off the road or generally cant be arsed with all the fif-faf lol

The other idea i liked was the pod tent thing, imagine how good JAE would be if we not only had the marquee that JAE supplies but can also stick on the side of that our club ones, hell we might even be able to get 300zx.co.uk embroidered on the side of the pods with the regions on as a meeting area for the club representatives to hold a yearly meeting to discuss things. (even though we can already do that using the forum, there is nothing better than having a chat face to face)

Just a few ideas.

A lot of these are one time items per year, so not going to cut into the budget that much, but please remember what ever comes out will eventually have to be put back in to balance everything and so we dont run short so things stop happening. last thing we need is getting carried away with things for now and ending up not being able to do anything due to cash constraints. things do need to be looked at on a long term plan rather than the short term. so start small and see where it goes from there.

These are all great ideas :-) heres my input.....

the club calender is a must! and would be better sold at cost(ish) price rather than totally subsidised by the club. im sure folk wont mind paying a couple of quid for a good quality Zeddy calender :-) heres some prices but there just the first on google lol, so there must be loads of competition, possibly a club member works in a printers and could sort out some discount???

i think possibly getting some funding towards entry tickets to regional events or days out would help get people together, maybe things like dyno days, track days and possibly some other days like karting or paintballing?? just an idea as i know its hard to get people together for little meets, i could have done more as REO this year i know, after my little one was born the summer just seems to have passed me by a little :-( but ill endeavour to get a few more things going :-) having a bit of fundage for this kind of thing would just make the odd change from pub carpark meets etc i think for the local regular meets you just gotta keep trying as its rare to find dates everyone is free, but if the ones who are free still attend each one then eventually youl get more turn out i reckon.

the conjoined gazebo idea is great too, would make for gr8 bbqs etc in the summer, and could all transform into one massive super-powerful gazebo at national events, if we could get them embroidered or printed on then all the better, again, may have a member who works in this field??

club competitions with small prizes for subbed members are also a great idea, the prizes wouldn't have to be massive, and it would help build club spirit etc etc. the type of competitions should be varied too to keep things interesting and fair. maybe an annual lottery type thing would also be a good idea with the tickets being distributed for free to subbed members, again the prizes wouldn't need to be massive.

If any money was going to be spent it definitely needs to be of some benefit to the members who dont get to meets for whatever their reasons. and making the site more accessible to smartphones would be a really good idea as there becoming so popular these days (poll added) Even as i type this there are some interesting figures in the poll.

very vague idea here, but could some kind of deal be cut with 'club vetted' local garages for slightly cheaper service in exchange for club advertising??????

how about a Z scalextric league????? (sorry, random) would be fun at the regional meets?

Hmmmm, im sure there was more when i started this lol, im tired now lol.

ide just like to close by saying i thought vods did a great job at JAE, admittedly i was only there for the one day but i enjoyed it heaps :-) also i still think this is one of the friendliest car clubs out there (the ones where you keep your clothes on anyways:tt2:) there's never going to be a club where everyone agrees 100% of the time so i think we do pretty well :-)

I was nodding along agreeing with everything you were saying......and then it all went down hill ^^^^^

only joking mate, you may actually have a point there bud, not so much Scalextric but certainly RC (radio controlled) cars. They are a big side attraction at drift events in Japan, even the semi pro drivers whip them out (their RC cars that is Andy before we get side tracked!) and have a bit of fun with them, good for when it starts to rain and a way of passing the time.

Maybe something to look at

I'm so proud of you mate. You are giving up all that kiddie bait to give to the club.

Everyone's a winner.

I know this is a big ask but why don't you donate that 10kg tub of Wertters Originals.

You can give up, I know you can do it!!

Oi Isherward... get your donkeys and rollerskates out... you need to start juggling them again.

Wow, i was off line a couple of hours and 5 more pages later....!

Hey was it me to first suggest the calender? I want a prize if it was. I could almost make a calender of my dead zeds....

Nice stuff in there!!

Here's a good one. The prize could be an embroidered polo shirt with your name on - handy to wear at club events, the club name and also what you won to get it!!!!!

So it would say something like -

"Andy Isherwood, Sexiest Man 2011, 300zx.co.uk"

Or "Pablito, Slimmer of the Quarter, Q1 20012"

or "Daffy, Most Indecisive Member, 2012" Actually, not sure about that one?

Or, "300zx_666, Musical Chairs, Champion, JAE 2012"

This way you get something nice to wear, people can see your name and you can proudly wear your prize for all to see!!

I'm sure Kim can get the shirts sorted.

What do you all think?

Any other ideas for example categories?
