Thread Closed!!!! lol!! Club suggestions??

Don't even think about it!! lol!!

I come back from Japshow Finale and every thread with club suggestions is deleted and/or closed!!

You lot can't be left on your own for five minutes!!! And as for the members....:whistling: Only kidding!

Right so, back to the point -

For me, it's simple.

1. The club bank account grows by "an amount" per year. Fact. the figures are here http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=94723 but I can't tell if it's £1,500 or £2,500 after expenses per year. This is great news!!

2. The club account presently has £25,000 of the members money in it. Fact

3. Since the inception of the club there has never been a £25,000 emergency. Fact.

What a great position to be in!!

We have £25,000 in the bank and we have never needed to use it!!

I'm sure we have insurance so it should not be needed anyway.

My suggestion is that we stop growing the deposit by what ever it is per year and instead spend the net amount from the previous year on this years members in the way of Japanese car events or events of some description.

Let's divide this left over budget into each region and see what events we all want to attend by a member poll. This should result in more localised meets and I expect that each region will want to attend some of the same events such as JAE, Japshow etc. So not only are we doing more regionally but also nationally.

As for the £25,000 I would like to see some of this invested in capital equipment such as banners for each region and gas BBQ's. Yes I love my food!

What do the REO's think? What does the NEO think?

What do the members in each region think??

Cheers!

i pay my sub's so the club survive's, people have mentioned before about mods and comittee not paying, but i think that is wrong, we should all pay

im not fussed about the money being spent at all, but if the member's insist that it be spent then everyone is entitled to a piece of the pie so to speak

more thing's like the comp'S would suit me, it's just trying to get some idea's of comp's and get people involved, you cant go saying get yourself to a meet or dont bother paying your sub's

as for the zed, will see what next year bring's

Tbh matey as this is a club suggestions thread, get some ideas down, i fully understand and agree that there should me more for those that have contributed that do not go to meets, some cant due to health issues, others because they don't want to, others because its just not practical IE work commitments / children ect.

Ive already suggested a few fun things like competitions with a prise, doesnt have to be a full set of misterR's but just something once a year or even every 6months for those who subscribe

can we also stay on topic about suggestions for the membership rather than accounting for site up keep.

One of my main points is about freeing up budget mate, so if we can save money in another area then it helps so it's totally relevant.

the running of the site is for committee matey, we have a budget already, it just needs to be handled correctly for the members now. id rather it stayed how it is, than moving it around and finding out the new host isn't up to handling the bandwidth we generate and finding the forum off line for hours to days while it gets sorted out. or end up with database issues after the transition that loses half the information we have.

the current host seems to do a sterling job with only the odd occasional hiccup to PMing. if isnt broke why fix it?

Because it is costing over a grand a year mate thats why. you can get unlimited bandwidth, unlimited space and usage on some hosts for under a 100 quid with 99.99% reliability. Over 1K is a complete joke!

take your concerns up with the committee if you feel that way, but can we stay focused on meets and club competition and such like in this thread, I've already said that if there is something your not happy with approach the appropriate people with your concerns.

We are waiting for you to come back with some answers mate!! In the mean time we need to amuse our selves!!

As you have stated, we discuss loads of stuff and then you go and present a summary to the committee and fight our corner!!

Do do do do dooooooo. Bored bored bored!!

It's a forum for discussion. Just think how many burgers and sausages you buy next year at JAE if Murt can save us £1,600 a year!!

Whats the point, all that the committee does is laugh at the requests, then creates threads in the admin section about how they hate certain members, its like kicking a dead a dead horse, wont get anywhere.

Going to back track on this one a bit !

Although you can get hosting for say £15 a month, a lot of services may be very basic and do not provide a lot of bandwidth or storage.

I've no idea how much the club pays for hosting and storage or who the club is hosted with, but an active site like this can accumulate a lot of storage and bandwidth which could cost more if the site needs a stable viewing speed for its users.

Last thing we need is to run the site on servers that can't cope with the traffic.

be quite cool to get a service with an smtp service attached, that way we could have 300zx.co.uk email addresses instead of hotmail.com etc..

depending what service you are subscribed to this may already be there..

They already have that, but its for Admin/Mods only.

thing is though murt every time we try this, we get comments like that. don't worry your not the only one plenty of people do it. but think of it this way, your on the committee, things in a thread are going nice some good suggestions are being brought forward, ideas noted down, then the odd sly comment comes in. which granted thats how someone feels, but then what happens is the thread turns into a slagging match, posts get deleted threads get closed, a few other threads get started up basically covering the same things with the same arguments and all it achieves is get the committees backs up and nothing gets changed, rinse repeat.

The thread was progressing well i thought with committee members even getting involved. its all forum politics that just slows the process down when things start getting out of hand. id rather get on with the important things than getting into slagging matches that does nothing for the progress of the members, does nothing for new people coming on to the site, and just generally leaves a bad atmosphere for a few hours/days.

im trying to get some ideas as NEO of what i can do to help not only our REO's like you, but also for larger events. i see no reason in a thread like this to start commenting on how much the site costs per year when its not going to have any effect on what i can help with events, or how competitions are going to be ran. its obvious that the site works, so i cant see why we should throw a spanner in the works just for a lower cost, i understand the reasoning behind it, cheaper site costs = more for events, but to be perfectly honest, £1400 a year isn't going to effect events / competitions anyway unless the funds start running dry, so where is the point in even bringing that into the question? its a one off payment per year for services.

The reason i said about approaching the proper people is because i have absolutely no control over it and getting aggravated in a thread isn't going to help, none of the mods have control over it. so yes approaching the appropriate people is the best cause of action, if they fail to do something then im sorry but not a lot i or any of the other mods can do about it.

hope that clears it up a bit for you.

Right more ideas would be nice, we have a good selection so far. does anyone else have any?

Can we just jump on the back of other events as a chance to get together. Im new to the jap world so slap me down if Im talking rubbish.

There are plenty of country fairs etc, where they encourage people to turn up with their classics, you pay an entry fee for the car and the whole family can go in and wander round.

I have a 924 Turbo (well not for long, Missus has told me it has to go) and they regularly got on the back of events like this.

I agree its not specialised, but gets everybody together in the area, gives the family a cheap day out (usual dog shows, birds of prey, farmers markets etc) and gives us a chance to show the world the Zed...

I have attended 4 or 5 classic car shows this year with another car club I am a member of.

Cholmondeley Castle (quite where they get the spelling from I don't know, it's actually pronounced Chumly). They have two classic car shows and the Pagent of Power each year, tickets are free to exhibitors, it only takes a REO to see when they are on and apply for tickets. The same goes for Tatton Park, 2 classic car shows per year and again tickets only need applying for.

The Peak Run, a fantastic weekend and a run through some of the most spectacular scenery Britain has to offer. TSSC Derwent Valley Peak Run'

This has grown so big, it was fantastic this year. At all the above shows I have only spotted 3-4 300ZX, most of them I was the only 300ZX there. I should be able to get contact details and who to apply to for tickets if anyone is interested.

All that would be needed is a gazebo in case it rains, and either bring a packed lunch or your own BBQ, although Tatton Park is a two day event, so a tent to camp in would also be handy.....lol.

The amount of cars that have turned out at all the above events have been brilliant, we should get a stand at them, I am willing to help anyone out with the organisation.

I hope things do start to get better as by this statements ideas are disregarded due to a few people speaking out. I thing the whole committee needs to have a look into the way things are dealt with as people basically want more meets and events from what ive seen however with REO posts gapped and some REO`s not organising or suggesting anything to the regional members then things are not going to change. Some REO`s dont even own a zed lol and i thought the job was to organise meets for zed members. In my 2 years ive been to 2 events related to this club and i dont think ive missed any. The rest have been either a few of us organising it or ending up on other club stands.

Zed of the month competitions again? A zed calender? Best mod? Stupidist forum member? Most helpfull forum member?

OK, I'm the stupidest forum member, when do I get my prize?........:sneaky2:

might of been covered already in the 114 posts but was there any prizes from the club at JAE?

thing is though gonzo, speaking out isn't the problem its how people speak out. coming across as an angry dude welding a bat isn't the correct way, taking it out on mods who are only here to make sure rules don't get broken is not the correct way, we should all be old enough to handle things with out everyone getting there backs up because they think they are not being listened too. this is the biggest problem with speaking out. we are all ears (as seen by this thread) when things are done in an amicable way.

I think Stellaz raised a very valid point. Pretty much seems that to benefit from the funds you need to attend JAE. This obviosly is aside from the PM and selling option, of being subscribed.

Small quarterly comps with prize values of £25 or so might get some interest. Best photo, nicest update/upgrade etc.

Personally I don't have a problem with the cost to subscribe or the amount of money in the bank. I feel this is a good thread though as it is interesting to see how the membership as a whole would like to see the club improve/change for the better of everyone. And in particular awareness of the one thing we are all here for. The legendary Nissan 300zx/Fairlady.

I put loads in there :devil2:

I know :gunsmilie: We want more  They brighten my day dude.

What are your thoughts on holding a monthly raffle on the last day of every month with 3 draws per raffle (ie. 1st, 2nd & 3rd place prizes), maybe £1 per ticket to be paid by the day prior to the raffle being drawn.

Three decent zed related prizes up for grabs every month, pics of which can be posted up on 1st day of every month by way of an incentive for members to buy tickets (cost within reason agreed by members in advance).

any additional proceeds from the years raffles being put into a pot and at the end of the year that pot being donated to a charity of choice (to save arguments the 1st placed winner of the December/Christmas draw stipulates the charity/s who will benefit from the donation)

A number of appointed trustees could make the draw each month

Fair point Andy, With comittee approval Id be happy to contact some sites and make some enquiries into getting plates made? if its only a hook on job while the car is statioanry at a show would it make a lot of difference on size???

We could just have 2 sizes standard UK for non modded cars and a slightly smaller for modded?

Or something to that effect would make it so much easier to find out who owns what.

Or even a standard template that people could add info too print off and put in their windows, giving mods etc a little like alot of our ride pages, this wouldnt cost anything then?

what does everyone think??

I think this is a great idea, and we could use the fridge magnet strips to attatch to our cars, you have seen the ones for sale in seaside tourist shops, usually yellow and has something like Her4me, or the likes written on them.

The only downfall with this is that members will still not know other members once they have moved away from their cars. I think we were trying to get an idea for maybe being able to identify a member by something they have on, weather it be the ID badge supplied by the club or a Tee-shirt or something of the likes.

Sorry, just my thoughts on this idea.
