front tyre advice.

im on a budjet atm so ive been looking about trying to put some part worns on the front, the rim width is 235, im thinking that putting on a 225 would have very little difference to anything apart from saving cash as they seem more common. esp if i used a 225/40/18 instead of a 235/35/18. any thoughts on thing? also is there any hazzard of going smaller im not a fan of strech, i dont trust it, but obviously tiny amounts are negliable so what does consitute as tiny? as does teh zed actually require a 225 front tyre?

I never liked the 235/45/17's on my fronts, they caught inside on turning and I didn't like the 45 profile, certainly not suitable for a sports car!!

I have fit 225/40/17's and have noticed no difference at all to handling, they do look better with the smaller profile, don't rub and if I wished I could drop the car a touch as there is more clearance to the arch.

Yes there is a hardly noticeable amount of stretch and I would replace these with the same size again.

My advice - go for it :thumbup1:

225/40/18 would be fine - in fact they are the natural progression up from stock fronts.

Standard = 225/50/16; first upgrade = 225/45/17 and then up to 225/40/18 etc...

Your front rim width should be between 7.5" and 9" for 225 to keep in spec.

Most fronts are generally 8" or 8.5", but not always, so check if you don't know what yours are.
