its that time of year again to renew the zeds insurance . anybody getting a good deal on classic insurance as my insurers say they will beat any quote if i have proof of a cheaper quote .

any pointers as to who i should be getting a quote from will be much appreciated .

FJ dont do imports?

When did that change?

Lynbrook were great for me when I had Zedward. About £200 fully comp as I recall. Just don't leave it last minute as they're not particularly fast!

Gave FJ a ring today - they said the website isnt a club they normally deal with so i was left a bit nonplussed.

 

cheapest quote i could get was 450 limited to 4500 miles which was higher than i expected - 34, 6 yrs NCB, driveway, no mods. Should i be speaking to someone in particular?

That's odd; we have a member - dave@fj - on here who works for them and he has put us forward as a club they work with. FJ was in the process of becoming a trader not so long ago....

well i pay an amazing £2,500 per year but thats for a trade policy and i still have a tt99 on my licence its a killer believe me...

£240 a year, 25, 2NCB, Female, and garaged - I think the last could be your problem, as my Z has to be tucked up in the garage every night to be insured.

i just got a quote from fj for my lightly modded n/a import and it came to £821 :shock:

what the hell is that about! my other quote i had without mods came in at £195. i would expect to pay slightly more than that withmods but not over £600 more!

Tell me about it, my bother has been trying to insure my NA today FJ said no as he doesn't have a garage best quote he got was from adrian flux for £995!! but it does have a HKS air filter so that must bump the cost up a bit :lol:

personally i think adriun flux is a rip off but thats just me, as when i got a quote from them last year it was nearly 2 grand. and considering i'm 32 with nearly 15 years of driving experience, that seemed a little excessive. tell your brother to try sureterm as thats who i'm with at the moment and they are by far the cheapest i have found. although i still need to ring them with my list of mods and see how much my policy goes up.

i don't really get why the insurance should be much more just because of a few cosmetic changes, it's not like i've stuck a ferrari engine in it with 1000 hp shot of nos.

i agree about flux, but ironically, my RX7 was cheaper to insure with them MODIFIED than it was standard.

 

that was a 1994 and qualified as a classic car policy, a friend of mine has a 95 FTO on a classic policy. I dont think its so much about the year now, but more about how many of them are left i'm guessing!

 

i'm 28, pay £320, 1992 TT LWB, mods declared, garaged, CAT 1, 4k miles per year (again, wont get near that) with sureterm.

adrain flux are generally cheaper for modded cars as its their speciality. but im with fj and paying sod all esp considering im driving a manual tt and im only 26

45 yrs old,licence for 28 yrs including hgv1,clean licence and because i have one non motoring conviction hardly anyone will touch me,before my time away £260 now £1550.What the relevance between my conviction and my risk as a driver is beyond me. The worst part is that because my sentence was over 2 years i will have to declare it for life as it is never spent.

My own fault i know but it was nothing to do with dishonesty or driving. A bit harsh to me.

Got mine sorted for my brother ended up with Swinton at £382 with £50 cashback. Strange thing was when my brother called them on sat he got quoted £2800

footman was way to dear for me with the mods and im 47 with good driving history etc, got it with b wiser for £202.00
