After 8 years of more or less care free motoring the car let me down today!

Happily trundling along the A36 heading towards wilton classic and super car show when I noticed the temperature heading north, by the time I found a lay by about 50 yards up the road had stem pouring from under bonnet:no:

Once the car cooled down I found that the plastic hose outlet or boss at the top of the rad has snapped off:mad2: so i had to use the RAC that's the first time in 9 years as well.

So the car had to be brought back on a low loader and is now safe and well back in my garage.

So has anybody got an ally rad i can have pretty please:blushing:

here are the pictures!

TT / N/A auto or manual? as i have a OEM TT auto rad in the garage doing nothing.

TT man fella, looking to replace with an all alloy rad not wanting this to happen again:whistling:

Stunning zed, one of my fav. did anyone tell you you should spray your b piller black :lol:

it looks as if the rad outlet has melted :confused1:

Shut up you! the B pillar looks fine.

Looks like its melted in the picture but it is snapped off:no:

my z is the most reliable car I've ever owned. 11 years of ownership and never let me down, just always look after her and kept well maintained. hopefully you get a few more years with no further break downs.

Andy

That happened to me when I was doing a bit over the limit on the M40 shortly after I got it I saw a cloud of steam in rear view mirror and my first thought was 'I can't be going fast enough to leave a vapour trail' !

Stopped it before any damage as done though

I've had that happen on 3 of my zeds - it's a really stupid design and it always ends up breaking in exactly the same place

I was going to say you could borrow my spare one i'm using on the TT donor to get it running but actually that neck has snapped off as well! :headvswal

Thanks guys:cool3: i have sent a pm to japspeed.

Is there any body running these rads on here?

If so any good bad points?

I was looking at lukes one with built in leccy fan:cool3:

It only did it the once but the connection of the electric fan dropped off the battery feed (previous owner's connection) and the car overheated badly. Another time the fuse had blown and i didn't know so just be careful running them that all the connections are sound otherwise bad overheating problems ahoy!

let me know how how you get on i heard there can be clearance issues which mean you have to move the intercooler pipes to get the thing in.
