Well thanks to Steams, top bloke i must say. forgot how high the car would raise on standard height suspension, so had to pop the engine back in and adjust the load leveler, plus get the hoist lifting on all chains, these pictures were taken before id done that, the last well being taken after.

Next up, fit the new turbos, change me fancy stuff over, and get the new engine back in.

how hard is it to drop the front sub frame get the steering UJ out the way and get the gearbox and engine in in one go? as not too keen on trying to get a gearbox to mate with the engine from under the car with not much room, when on my own?

photos taken using my phone, as didnt trust me camera out there while getting oil everywhere. the wet patch in the engine bay is water from the front water pipes.

The start

Second that rofl1smiley.gif

laugh away fuzz balls, the engine came out, the new one went in.

with only a slight bit of paint scrape on the front bumper where the engine wanted to drag the hoist through the thing.

other than that, perfect.

Not bad considering the lack of a garage and a 4 poster :tt2:

All u need now is a nice blue plenum to match, and u got a beaut there Ian........

Its not personal just abit of factual banter dont get yer thong in a twist.

Hey Ian,

That's coming on nicely bud - can't wait to see the finished article....

Its a pity you dont show the same amount of effort getting yer sad ar$e to the job center instead of breeding like a wippet. No wonder we can't afford to pay our police.

Whoa, easy Vinz - I assume you are just indulging in a good spirited bit of banter mate. But comments like this can easily be taken the wrong way - I happen to know Voddy; and can say that he is not the type of scrounger or leech that your post would imply.

We all have a sense of humour - Voddy especially (hence he hasn't abused his mod powers and deleted your post) - but your comment appears to have caused offence.

Like I said, I'm sure you didn't mean it so how about an apology and we'll just get on with talking about cars. You know it makes sense Vinz.....

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

no, factual would be where you are dead right, but in this case your dead wrong.

being able to fix a computer for someone, and get on your iphone in between software installs is hardly what id call being on the dole.

seriously, if you cant figure that out, there really is no hope.

hell i can even get on facebook and post shit up while DJ'ing.

you might want to invest in a phone that can do the same, you would be surprised the amount of people i know who still post shit online even though they are working there asses off.

Its not personal just abit of factual banter dont get yer thong in a twist.

Take it OFF FORUM if its personal stuff, there is no need to pick fights with members on here! Its the grown up way of dealing with things you know - talking through issues with someone you have a problem with!

So Ian, you didnt go down the route of engine and gearbox out in one, yet you have the subframe mounted to the new one, please enlighten me lol

Im starting mine tomorrow, a day later than i had hoped, but hey ho.

Im starting mine tomorrow, a day later than i had hoped, but hey ho.

the new engine came with the sub frame attached, i left it attached until we were ready to drop the new engine in, as not only did it protect the oil pan, it also protected the front crank pulley, and when the engine was lowered to the floor, it sat correctly.

we then undid the old sub frame, and lowered the engine into the bay onto the sub frame that was already in place.

one thing i will say though, if you can take your front bumper off, it would be a good idea. as i couldn't, i ended up with the crane being pulled into it with the engine.

if you get stuck give me a ring, ill be lounging about on the sofa all day watching Jeremy kyle

Cool, did you not try it all out in one go, or was it a no no? I was just hoping to save a few hours lol

I will be taking the bumper off anyway and headlights as i want to spray the slam panel the same colour as the engine bay.

As i was on my own for the engine out, it just made more sense to remove the gearbox and do it the way i know, if id ran into any problems doing it by lowering the front subframe, i most likely would of just thrown a spanner at the thing lol

so was a good idea to leave it all on for you then mate

was indeed, though you could of told me you had a hicas delete lol, ive now got to change the power steering pump bracket over as mine doesnt fit with the hicas one on, shame i didn't realise before putting the engine in

how many man hours and wife labour... (lol my mrs wouldnt hold a spanner for all the gold in kingdom come) did it take to pull the block then. props on the work and nice to see steams giving you a hand aswel good comunity on here, even if some arnt to friendly.
