Featured Replies

yes and no. It would be a page long thread detailing the differences of every combination. Do you have a specific interchange in mind ?

no im just in need of a gearbox, ive got a TT auto that wont go past 2nd, considering a manual conversion but then think it may be worth just buying a manual car. also there is auto NA boxes available but not sure of compatability

also with autos does it matter if its from uk or jap, as jap spec have power and hold whereas uk dont?

There are Internal differences between TT and NA for the Autoboxes, in regards to strength. You really want to stick to a autbox from a TT if you decide to keep it Auto.

Jap and UK does not matter, the difference with power and hold is dealt with by the ECU. The boxes are the same.

if you decide to go for a manual conversion, then its much simpler to go for a TT manual box.

You can fit a NA manual converison to a TT but you wont get Vacumn assistance for the clutch, and you will need to either fit a Uprated NA clutch or modify the bellhousing to fit a TT Clutch and flywheel (as well as source these seperately, as they wont come with NA converison kit ofcourse).

There are differences with the propshaft, but either way you will need a Manual front half of propshaft anyway with the conversion.

dont waist your cash, it wont work and even if it does, it will only be for a few hundred miles before it does it again. in short your gear box is shagged mate.

mine doesnt go past 2nd and im having to swap the gearbox.

also there is a vast difference in the TT vs NA box, for starters you would need to change the torque converter as well as the propshaft as the ends are different and they will not marry up. as well as the drive plate (speaking from experience here of trying to fit a tt autobox to a na)

you only have 2 real options if your keeping the car, get another TT Auto box, or go manual conversion.

I also have a TT Auto box with torque converter available looking for £120 plus what ever delivery is, its currently in royston. it changes gears when its supposed to, doesn't grind and selects all gears, will come with the torque converter as well matey.
