Been toying with the idea of putting the twin turbo engine in my long suffering gt40 replica???

It should be fitted with a ford 5.8l v8 (sat in shed). The car would weigh 1050kg with the v8 but i`m expecting it could weigh 1000kg with v6, with a good strong build i would be hoping for 500hp/tonne??

Would you give the thumbs up or down for this install???

Dave,

No disrespect bud, go for the v8 mate,I was at Supercar Sunday 2 weeks ago and was blown away with the V8,s, the sound was,,,,,,, AWSOOOOOME,

Stick with what you have bud, just my opionion

Cheerz

Chris.

Yup - V8 all the way mate!!

As nice as the VG30DETT sounds on full chat, you just can't beat the burble from a V8. It's not the petrol-head's choice of engines for nothing........

Richard:winkiss:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Personally I reckon stick an 800bhp RB26DETT in the GT40 :D

V8 !

Given have the chance I'd rip the VG out of the Z and put in a V8 in it(although not a Yank V8 for the Z......but a yank V8 is ideal for for the gt40)

V8's are awesome bud... thats not to say the v6 wudnt be sufficient.... go with what you feel for the build, both will return a great car

Go for an LS V8, a mate of mine recently bought a VXR8 with the 6.2 LS3, and though it's not my cup of tea there's no denying that the sound is pretty special

Whatever you decide, I wanna see it... GT40 is my all time favourite car..... If i only had a quarter of a mill to spare!!!

agreed with all it has to be a V8 anything else would be "just not cricket old boy" !!

its like when you see a cobra rep finished beautifuly and it has 2.0 pinto engine WTF

even a rover v8 does not cut it has to be a big shouty yank V8 with a set of cool snake headers and a exhaust note to die for ...fit the Vg30dett if you must but i think you would regret the hard work you would have put in when the red hot tubs make your fibre glass GT40 rep smell like an egyptians toilet or a busload of pensioners in august

yep v8 bud, im in the middle of customising my lexus gs430 to sound like this.....

Wire computer to hifi or put headphones on for full effect

thanks for all the advice guys, its Jack by the way, we've decided the v8 is the way to go! new pics of the gt40 after we finally pulled it out of the old garage!!!

Well i've got my 6.3 litre V8 complete in the zed up for sale - needs setting up properly but you'd save yourself a fortune.

Solid roller comp cams setup, 750 CFM edelbrock carb, etc, parts cost me in excess of £12k but looking for £6k for the engine, it's done 200 miles and an almost new tremek tk500 fitted.

It needs the oil bypass plug fitting and a sender relocating and that should solve the problems i was having.

Starts and runs on the key!
