What do you guys think of this: bidded on an item and won it fair and square, now seller has sent me this message:

Item number: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220806540395?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fi.html%3F_nkw%3D220806540395%26_sacat%3D0%26_odkw%3D300zx%26_osacat%3D0%26_trksid%3Dp3286.c0.m270.l1313%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

Dear zedworld

Hi,

There appears to have been an error where the reserve has not

kicked in.

Clearly I cannot let this item go for that price so I can either refund you or we can agree a more realistic price.Let me know your thoughts..

regards

Alan

if the auction finished and you are the highest bidder and won, its now a legally binding sale! If he didnt set the reserve properly thats his problem

Bit of a joke. Could be legit, but either way not much you can do if he is offerig full refund.

Ebay wont do anything about it.

Ive been here before tho.

I emiled ebay about it, and after days of bull sh1t, they basiclly said "we cant make him sell it you".

Ebay is good when it works, but does my head in more and more often these days..

I disagree Ebay is all about buyer protection these days, Id deffo contact ebay!

But all they would do is insist he either sends item or issues refund...which he has already offered.

Ebay may issue a non-performing strike on the sellers account, but Jeff wont get the item unless buyer chooses to send it.

You should leave negative feedback Jeff, for others to see. Or make sure the seller knows thats your intention...he may decide to post it instead

Contact Ebay. You won it fair and square the seller also has the oppurtunity to check and double check before they post there item. His own fault the reserve isn't there!

I had the opposite happen with my old TT. Guy won it in a last minute bid, came to view the car then stopped answering his calls.

Turns out he'd been on here and seen a few threads about the car (about stuff i'd paid to be fixed admittedly) and changed his mind despite the totally honest listing with any faults listed.

Ebay ended up deciding i should withdraw the item and relist it and issued a refund of fees and he got away with a silent strike to his name.

Unfortunately although legally binding you'll not get the car at that price and you'll end up with a refund and he'll have a silent strike against his name but no negative feedback

"There appears to have been an error where the reserve has not

tell him to sue ebay!! Not kicked in - what a load of crap!!

I can't see that the item would have been worth much more (or much less) than Jeff's final bid anyway

If it was was for the sale of a 'Z-32' private DVLA registerred plate then ok, fair enough as that would no doubt have been worth a couple of grand, but for a show plate?

Even if it was a genuine mistake on the sellers part and he had intended to place a reserve then he should still honour the sale and learn from his mistake

screw him over jeff, you won it fair and square, he messed up so will have to pay the price. :2guns:

yeah looks like he's tried it on before going by his feedback. if it was a genuine road plate it'd be worth thousands, but as a show plate anyone could knock that up themselves or online for a few notes.

hes a typical retarded ebayer. ive had loads of the stupid :xxx: this week and last they come in waves. the amount of thick fookin stupid emails is a joke. Its really scary how thick some people are.

This guy is talking a load off bull. the minium ebay reserve is set at £50 and no less. so there was never a reserve. if he was telling the truth then he would of had a reserve of £50 and you can buy them for around £25

so eaither way he is a dumb :xxx:

^^^^^^^^^^ Well said! Totally agree

There never was a reserve set on this item, as it would have stated it on the listing.

At least I now know who out bid me on the item:thumbup1:

Exactly what he said....

......unfortunate but true Jeff. E-bay is shite nowadays and full of chancers just waiting to rip you off.

Yes, you won it fair and square but unless the seller decides to let you have it, there's very little else you can do.

Personally matey - I'd find somewhere to get my own one made up.....

Seller's probably on here...c'mon..own up

Well.......... it wasn't me....

Alz. :tt2:

weird same seller was selling loads of zed bits, i had bid on a pair of uk rear fogs lights, and was watching the very same show plate. I got done within the last 20 secounds for a grand total of 50p. The guy is only 8 miles away from me, i sent an email stating i would be able to collect, never heard anything. Seems strange a local unknown zedder to me, has a few bits, but ive never seen him. I know guys locally who own a zed, but not this one.

Yep, looks like he's done it before, and as said ebay won't do much, I would do something along the lines as previously mentioned:

reply and tell him he didn't set a reserve, if he wanted more he should have set the start bid at his minimum. If he wont sell it to you at the price you won it, you'll have no choice but to leave negative feedback.
