Right folks,

I've started a new journal to break down the stages of doing an air-con conversion

from the series 4 manual type to the series 2 digital type.

As only mods and the journal author can add comments can anyone who has any

thoughts on the subject put them in here so i can make life alot easier for myself

if you happen to spot or know something i don't.

The journal thread is here :

Very interested in seeing this. I did ask someone if it was going to be possible but had no reply. So now it looks as if we're going to find out :) Good luck. :D

i helped him strip it from my breaker and he is a brave man atempting this lol

I'll second that - I don't think that I'd try it :hammer:

yeah, i looked at it by comparing my series 2 and series 4 and decided not to

looking at your thread i think you will need a lot more stuff to do it properly

when i looked at doing it i rekoned you need to replace the ducting everywhere it has a sensor (theres at least 2 under the trim under the steering wheel) windscreen vent as one has a sensor fitted. and quite a lot of the main air deflecting box with the motors to control the flaps

good luck though, it will be interesting to see how it goes

anyway , if your sucesful can i buy the manual pod as its in better condition than mine by the look of it

Cheers,

Still lots to do, I had both looms spread out on my living room carpet today to compare

and I might need to do some modifications on the older one.

On my loom there seems to be 3 extra relays and the ignitions plugs have changed too.

I'm hoping that the extra relays are related to air on only!

I'll try to post some pics up later.

i think you are doing a great job. but i couldnt be bothered doing all that to replace it with something that does the same job

Flippin 'eck Lee - that's one hell of a job mate!

Well done for taking it on, I reckon having seen what you have had to do, I'd bottle it and stick with the manual system....:scared:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I thought you were crazy when you removed your dash a few days before JAE last year and then i knew your were mental when you started this. Well done on completing it.
