OK just for you Graham , lol

They,re just a pair of the ones that you,re suposed to stick on the outside of the mirror which looks 5hit so i cut a hole and used a hot melt glue gun to stick them on the inside and now they,re painted i,ve sealed them with a bit of sikaflex .

Got something like that to do on mine, but they wrap around the corner of the mirror housing. Yours look good.

Lovely mate, really nice and i like the little touch of doing the mirror base the same colour as the back plate, looks neater than trying to mask around the bugger lol

So a quick question, even though the paint has been baked, how long is best to leave it before mopping? My guy is going to just 2k it without a clear.

Cheers

Graham

I didn,t bake it bud painted it on a saturday morning and monday was the bank holiday so i new it had a good few days to air dry , went in on the tuesday flatted it using a block with 1500 wet n dry then used some 3000 DA pads on a palm sander DA with some soapy water to flat back to a smoother finish then hit it with a polisher , came up really well .

I,ve never used the 3000 DA discs before , back in my day it was 1200 wet n dry and that was it ! but these discs are brilliant , makes polishing it sooo much easier .

I,m gonna run the polisher over it again when it,s all done as it,s bound to have settled a bit by then .

Mop it as early as you can as it,s easier then lightly re-do it later once fully cured , there,s nowt worse than trying to flat and polish paint that,s fully cured , it,s like trying to polish granite !! HTH

Looks stunning, I'm looking forward to seeing the finished rebuild

Cheers for the advice, i guess mixing the paint and clear yourself with the right amount of hardner will cure quicker than a rattle can ever would.
