..... without breaking your back!

I spent a couple of hours taking my silicone pipes and other engine parts off yesterday to give them a really good clean, I know my car is lowered, but MAN MY BACK HURT towards the end.

Any tips or tricks on how to work on a 300zx engine and NOT break your back?

:cool2:

One of the joys of owning a zed. ive found the more your work on it, the stronger your back becomes, but at times you need to be a contortionist,

e.g. adjusting the clutch pedal switch under the dashboard is one of the worst.

if its not your back, then you should do a clutch yourself, as its bonkers, lost so much knuckle skin...........................

zeds, they will always try you.............

Its you bud, I could'nt be a mechanic and bend over cars all day the bottom of my back kills. Your body might get used to it over time but no thanks lol.

I prefere to lie on the floor under the car, I find that quite relaxing :D

I have got a old milk crate that I stand on and kind of kneel over the car, if that makes any sense

That actually does make sense, because if you just knelt on the floor you'd be too low, kneeling on something like a milk crate would elevate you just enough to get into the engine bay, whilst not straining your back, perfect!

Have got things like Water Pump, Plenum, Spark Plugs, Cam Belt etc all to change in a few weeks time when I get back from California, so I'll have to give that a try.

Never mind the engine its hard enough changing fuses in the footwell

Thats so true :lol::lol:

I can't get mine on ramps, it's lowered! lol I'm still looking for a low profile hydraulic jack so that I can actually jack it up to change my brakes etc.

I don't like laying across the engine, I might break more than I fix.

Yeah I had to get into the ignition block the other day to wire something in, much to my dismay, someone else had been there before me, clearly the car has had all sorts in it, boost controller, turbo timer, Snooper, all but the Snooper has been ripped out, so spent a few hours with my head under the steering wheel re-wiring the ignition. Nice! I'm going to have to go through the ordeal again in a few weeks when the turbo timer I've bought off Mikey gets here :D

i can and mine is lowered, put a jack under rear mounting point. jack up enough on one side to be able to slide another jack under subframe at the front. jack up then slide ramps under wheels simples!

LMAO ok, well when I find a jack low enough to go under the car, any part of it that is, I'll try that! :D

If you want to work on my car for free mate, feel free! :D

Lmao!
