Does anyone know what the temperature reaches at the top of the engine bay, just under the hood?

not sure but i would say its bloody hot :lol:

I cannot touch mine after a run :wack:

hmm you could buy a tempreature tape that leaves a mark when it reaches max temp, failing that just a cheap thermometer a good drive and then stop and check

I have been messing with a digital in car thermometer but I think I have it reading the engine bay temp rather than the outside temp so I will be moving the sensor somewhere else.

Anyway got back from a 30 mile drive and it read 31 celsius, so the answer Al is certainly in excess of 30 degrees, perhaps as high as 35

only 35 that sounds a little cool thats 6 degress short of body tempreture....

thats what i thought...bet its not far off 100 celcius

Tomorrow I will get it fully warm and move the sensor to sit above the plenum and will update here - then we will see for certain :tt2:

That will be very helpfull matey...

Cheerz,

Alz.

135C Al is very hot - I expect your product will be fine :thumbup1:

I put a humble but accurate thermometer near the plenum and got the car warm but not fully 100 mile hot on a hot day, it reach its max of 50 celsius, this is way way short of the 135 celsius you state.

All the pipes would melt at that :tongue_smilie:

HTH,

Andy.

Depends how fast you're going I reckon!

Stationary in traffic after a hot lap of monaco and I think you'd be getting into 3 figures. Pulling into Tibshelf services after a 70mph cruis and you'd probably see about 50. The plenum gets hot to touch after a evening blast in ine, so I'd guess that was about 70-80. But that soon changes once you're on the move (the plenum temperature doesn't change too much, just the amount of heat transfered to the air around it).

In summary I'd say you'll be fine - I doubt very much you take your car for a blast then stop immediately before it has chance to cool..
