how would this compare to ARC uprated side mounts?

I do prefer the look of a nice big front mount intercooler, this is the one I mean -

carp034%20Z32%20%20FMIC%20KIT.JPG

I have ARCs at the mo and I know they are supposed to be one of the best, would the above FMIC be similar in performance?

sounds ok:

The intercooler core size is a massive 515 x 210 x 70mm and has a pressure drop of only 0.2psi @ 15 psi.

The intercooler is polished aluminum with a tube and fin design, the pipe work is polished aluminum.

The quality and fitment of this kit is similar to much more expensive fmic's on the market like Greddy, Blitz, HKS and even APS.

In most cases this front mount intercooler is larger and more efficient than the rest.

For those who want a comparison for fitting, the ab88 kit is identicle to the Greddy kit.

Key features and benifits

Fully polished side tanks

Tabs on bottom and top for easy installation

Improved Tube and Fin to increase performance efficiency by 15% over the old bar and plate design

Intercooler core size: 515 x 210 x 70mm

Intercooler inlet size: 2.5 inch O/D

Intercooler outlet size: 2.5 inch O/D

Supports 650HP max

Fully polished alloy intercooler

Ultra low intercooler pressure drop: 0.5-1psi at 23psi (normal bar and plate intercooler is 2.8- 4 psi at 23 psi)

35 % weight reduction compaired to bar and plate type intercooler

ABS and air conditioning do no not need to be relocated or removed

Only ~9KG in total weight for the full kit

Mikalor clamps included, absolutely NO jubilee clamps

Full installation kit is included in the price, including mounting brakets, silicone hoses, nuts, bolts, washers, pipework and intercooler

Everything in the picture is included

Its a copy of the HKS one, so it will be good.

The only problem with fmic is they block air getting to your rad. so i would stick with the smic.

damn you, that was sounding good until you said the second line :(

Whats the point. by the time your bumper is on with mesh and your numberplate on you will see feck all of it,

Obviously its up to you but you will not gain anything and i doubt you will see much of it.

I would spend my money else where :)

Its a copy of the HKS one, so it will be good.

That's exactly why it ain't good, cheap crap intercoolers which HKS or Greddy didn't use.

Remember there are countless types of I/C cores around, HKS amd greddy versions were around 4-5 times the price.

On top of that, just those 2 90 deg right angle bends equals around 12 foot in extra length of travelled (hopefully) cooled air!

ARC are the mutts nuts mate, stick with em!

Oh and it's a copy of Greddy not HKS

Ive got the same intercooler, as a replacement to the standard ic's, its a good buy and improved performance greatly. But if you've got aftermarket smic's already thats working well there is no point in changing them as you will most likely only the same performance as youve got now.

get a Border FMIC :) do you have the ducting with the ARC side mounts ?? if you have the ducting then you will notice no real difference between them and a good quality FMIC without the ducting the sidemounts are no where near as effecient .....as for blocking air to the rad ....no its not the case they are designed to let air flow through them so you would experience a reduction in air flow to the rad but not a blockage..if you stick with the viscous fan you will not notice it anyway

Ok thanks for the advice guys, think I'll stick with the ARC's. :thumbup1:

I do like the look of a fmic though lol...

im sure someone did a comparison recently between ebay fmics and say for example the greddy. they found that they were restrictive with their flow due to the manufacturing quality of the core etc and all in all offered little advantage over stock. so in short if youve got good smic then keep them. :D
