seems that the metal cancer is taking alot of zeds off the road over the last year.

Such a shame as yours is a very nice looking example.

Sorry to hear ur bad news.

That's rubbish news mate. Tough call either way. Sounds like you've got a big decision ahead of you. Good luck.

That is bad news mate; I'm sorry to hear that.

why not take it for a second opinion, is possible he just didnt want to do the work.

But that is a good point - you have nothing to lose now:detective:

If your mechanic is right on what needs doing, then I reckon I'd probably cut my losses and get rid too. You could replace it with a tidy rust-free example, transfer the good bits from your car to a new one and may still be no worse off financially.

Good luck in whatever you decide,

Richard:cool3:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Sorry to hear the news Del, mine was one of those this year that has been broken due to rusty sills and arches

Richard has a good point though with buying a tidier example, ok theres an initial outlay but you'll soon make your monies back if you have the time and the space.

the time and space isnt a problem and there are lots of good parts on the car just hard after all iv put into it lol

I know mate :( see what your other chap says when he sees it then make the decision from there :thumbup1:

hey hubby its ure wee wifey here lol im really gutted for you cos i know how much the car means to you although i think iv taken it worse than you but hopefully scotts news is better and if it is ill give you all my wages from my night job and you can get the car done id prefer too see it fixed than give up on it just like that after what james said so fingers crossed and you know u can spend what you want on it if its really worth it xxxxx

sounds like you have a good misses there, and hopefully your bodyshop friend can give you a better result, one garage i used to work at used to rub the hard brake lines with sandpaper and coat with vasaline if any help to you.

lol, shes only saying that so you wont be using her car:P.

Its the suspension bushes that will cost most in labour, after welding, but if you can get your mate to weld it for you at mates rates maybe.Good luck with it bud, heartbreaking to start all over again on another...

to be honest dont think i want to plough more money into this car. if the verdict is bad after my mate goes to see it tomorrow then il look at my options. anyone got a rust free shell lollol

If you've got the time and space to break a car have you thought about having a go at doing a bit of welding yourself? My car had some rot on the sills and on one of the arches but I took the decision to fix my one rather than mess about with other shells etc as I knew the history of it and didn't want to be buying a different shell/car with potential problems lurking :)

Same happened to me last year, hole in sill the size of a 50 pence, crack in other sill, bubbling rear arches and a rear tyre under limit.

I broke it and bought another but this time an import. when I was breaking it up to put on the next car the stuff I found...............spare wheel sat in water and rust, under carpet at rear full of water..........

Nothing lasts forever matey, don't mean to put a downer on things just telling my experance. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Why not just get the welding done, and get a poly bush master set from energy suspension?

At least that way you know the car, and changing the bushes makes an unbelievable difference to the feel of the car (never poly'd a Z but have done 2 E36 BMs and a S13)

Brake pipes aren't the end of the world either bud, full set of complete braided hoses for my S13 - from the BMC to all 4 callipers - £120!!! Again peice of mind as you know the cars condition, unlike if you try to get a better example!

My 2p worth :)

s13 Louis i need to change the hard brake lines on my Z32, the option of braded from the BMC would save a lot of hassle flaring etc etc, where did you get yours from please were they complete with end fittings etc etc

Dan @ DB-Power mate.

He is a really nice guy mate Just about to order 2 of these kits from him for me and a friend.

He's in Hemel Hempstead... I dont know where that is or where Wednesfield is so not sure if your close enough to collect! lol

Don't know what he does in regards to the 300ZX, may be a case of removing yours and having a measure up! :)

Hope this helps mate :)

Just seen this Dell and very sorry to hear your planning on braking it after all the work youve done to it. You sure it cant be welded up, there are a few of us who have been there now!

Check out the link in my sig for my car with the same problem.

It was off the road for a long time while I tried to decide if I should break her - in the end I decided to spend the money on mine as I knew the history etc of the poor old girl. Looks fantastic now IMO! :)

It wasnt cheap but was worth it from my point of view!
