Ok so I have got datascan and connector all wired up, port is on 1 on device manager and on datascan, speed is 9600 on both, but when I run the find ecu it takes ages and i gave up after 20 mins of wasting fuel idling :P, surely it shouldn't take that long ?

i have never had any luck with usb adaptors as i ended up buying the real usb cable, plugged in and bam there s the data !

The usb adaptors are nothing but trouble. I seem to recall there being info on the blazt website about adaptors and alternative drivers.

Presumably as it found the ecu after I swapped usb socket and com port #, its now working ? but odd that the real time monitoring functions are greyed out ...

I do have a feeling I set 14400 baud when I swapped it, so could try putting that back to 9600.

Other than that, the only drivers I can see on the blatz site are for the dedicated usb lead, not for the adaptor.

I looked at one of these for someone recently and the problem was that the drivers for the USB connector were not loaded. So check in Device Manager, to make sure that it has the correct one loaded, Windows found a working one automatically for me.

If the cable is the 9 pin type and your using some sort serial cable to USB adaptor

then the only driver needed would be for the adaptor, the drivers on blatz website

are for the USB cable they sell.

I've found with my USB cable that it only works in certain ports so try swapping

over ports first, if your pc or laptop is fairly new then the adaptor will likely be

plug and play and will use it's own drivers.

Sounds like you havent activated/registered the software yet?

Yep drivers for the adaptor all loaded and device manager is happy.

Software is registered, it allows the logging functions (F6 and F7) just the rest are greyed .... I'll try dropping the speed to 9600 next time I get a chance to plug it in, see how that goes.

Hmm, managed to get all functions ungreyed after finding ecu with ign on, but as soon as I started the car back to only datalogging, and with car running, it wasnt finding ecu.

Like you say likely the adaptor, I don't want to spend £40 just for a usb blatz cable, anyone have a link how to make/wire a usb cable up ?
