I have some crappy cone air filter on the Zed and I was wondering if it is worth going back to the original Zed one or another aftermarket one.

On the Supra the standard one is a lot better than the aftermarket one (according to the people in the know on the Forum :smartass:) so I was wondering if it's the same for the Zed.

I have an N/A if it makes a difference :detective:

Thanx Ade

Mine has got a HKS induction kit was on when I bought it, had a k&N panel filter in my scoob until the the front mount, people said a good panel filter was good for 350bhp, but pipe work dictated the induction kit. on the scoob anyway.

Normally I'd go for a panel filter but from what I've learned with the Zed so far is 90% of people run aftermarket, be it a cone or dual cones etc.

Thanx lads for the input

Might have a look around for an aftermarket one then

I've just replaced my Panels filters on my N/A. Like in my Supra, i went for the original filters again. Apart from making more noise, i doubt cone or mushroom filters give any extra performance.

The difference is that the Zed has its filter outside of the Engine bay where a cone filter does not suffer from heatsoak like on other cars, like the supra.

Normally I would agree apart from if your ECU is mapped to cope with the extra air that the car its getting, especially with the position of it on our cars.

the 300's standard filter is very restrictive, definately worth going for a cone or mushroom filter.

Cheerz guys definitely food for thought just need to suss out the best aftermarket one for me now :detective:

i think a twin set up is the best if you want to do it best.... but would benefit from other supporting mods too!

hoping to get a twin set up later on with two apexi cones

Exactly as my learned fellow members have said! Any cone or mushroom type induction kit should give improved performance over the stock airbox set up - however not all aftermarket filters give decent filteration!!

The best by far is the Apex-i; but the K&N is not bad either - although it's expensive compared to the Apex-i.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Replaced mine in my N/A with a cheap cone filter, but it was simply because I knew the filters hadnet been changed in forever...

The throttle response seemed better afterwards, but the panels were way overdue a change, so could have been that...

The air box is a weird shape, I can image it being restrictive, its also extra weight. I'm happier with it it off, but thats just me.
