ECU engine check light on and ECU not going into check mode?

as above the engine check light is on, but the ecu will not go into diagnostic mode?? car is also hesitating under throttle??? so can barely drive it.

 

any ideas how to reset the ecu, tried bat disconnect for over an hour... still the same.

    Turned the screw on the side of the ECU?

    Remove harness plug from ECU and refit again.

    Have you done anything to ECU just before this happened?

    removed it.

    refitted it.

    well if you done nothing to it prior to this fault, then generally when it loses the ability to do test and warning light is on, the ECU itself has a fault, hence the car usually runs bad and should activate the electric sub fan.

     

    To be sure your gonna have to borrow someones ECU fella.
