As one or two of you know, my ZX didn't make it to Jeff's bash on the 5th owing to an annoying steering wheel vibration problem.

Well it's sorted now - and full marks to Gary Wilson for correctly diagnosing the cause. The front right brake caliper had completely siezed - I discovered it last Saturday when I got home from a short trip and found the wheel too hot to touch and a slight smell of cooking brake pad!!

So after a little help from JeffTT (thanks matey - top service as usual!!), some replacement calipers were quickly posted to my local garage and the offending item was replaced on Friday. Oh and they did the MOT as well - which it flew through.....:smartass:

I decided to take the Z out for a 180 mile round trip to Stratford upon Avon today - it was sure good to find everything back to normal. The car seemed faster too - I guess siezed brakes might slow it down a bit.......:scared:

So if anyone saw a blue ZX passing everything on the M40 today......:whistling:

Also I was relieved to find that there was no damage to the disc either. Especially as they were new last summer (and only 5k miles on them!!)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

looks like you have a really genuine goodin there Richard...well done :cool3:

I was up and down the M40 this afternoon Rich, didn't see you though! Could have been a good excuse for some pictures. I do love Stratford upon Avon, although i suppose the weather has been a bit crap today.

Glad to hear the zed's all healthy again. Nothing like the relief you feel when your zed flies through an MOT without issue.......so I've heard

My MOT is coming up soon and I'm dreading it, need to get the plenum and top harness replaced for my own peace of mind and safety, but the sills need sorting and I think my front tyres are getting low, just hope they hold out until the MOT.

Congrats on having yours sorted Richard, I haven't experienced a fixed Z just yet, but when I changed my plugs after having my oil leak fixed and stuck the Mines ECU in, I know exactly the feeling, because the car was 150% better than it was before all the work was done! :D

Great news Richard, glad to hear it wasn't anything serious and was easily sorted.

Cheers Bri - it is that mate; it is fortunately a sound example, both mechanically and bodily!!

Likewise Phil - I reckon it didn't help when I cleaned the car before the cold and snow set in. Water was still present on the brakes and did freeze at some point; the first time I took it out of the garage after the thaw there were 4 loud crunches as the hubs freed themselves!!

LOL - that's because I would have been just a blue blur.....

Yup; nice and healthy once more, which is a great feeling! So all in all, it was a good day out, plus I like Stratford as well. Julia says I was grinning and laughing like an idiot on a few quiet stretches of the M40; particularly when "passing" a pimped out green Jag S-type....

Excellent Rich glad its sorted out and your using the zed again!

Cheers Chris - I've always gone on about how reliable a ZX should be; so it pains me to have it off the road for any reason!! Still - it was only a minor glitch thankfully........

Thats good news Rich caliper fixed and new mot, happy zeding mate:thumbup1:

Thanks Gary - and spot on with your diagnosis mate!!
