Just got car back from the bodyshop last night after them having it 10 weeks,thought i would go for a drive today but couldn't put fuel in it because the flap wont open,i can take it back to the bodyshop next week but itching to have a drive,is it an easy fix?

Mine sometimes gets stuck. Are you sure it hasn't actually released and is just stuck. Try gently levering it with a screw driver maybe whilst getting someone to press the release.

Yes, they took it off to colour match the paint.

 

Ah!-like I said,is the cable attached?-IIRC you can remove the trim and access the release from there.

Mechanism/cable is not touched when removing the filler cap - I expect its catching from the extra thickness of the paint, seen it a few times before.

 

Get somebody to try and prise it open at the same time as you pull the lever. You may have to try and adjust it on its screws or sand back a bit of the inside edge.

Just been out with the wife holding the leaver down , i can open the flap but it takes two people the flap will not pop open,at least i can put some fuel in ,i will have a look in day light tomorrow cheers all.

If I was you I'd let the bodyshop do it - you'll be gutted if you damage the paint :(

They may have also lost the little spring in the hinge that helps it pop open
