Im not after a all singing all dancing one which requires an university degree to operate. Plus i aint got that sort of cash.

IM after a good value for money one that can have a setting for high boost, standard boost and possibly a setting with no boost? (for economy)

I dont want a LIDIL's Special 99p one thats made out of cheese and an old pokemon either.

So i supose i middle of the rangeish.

Also- my car is almost standard, just an exhaust, so would i need to mess about with the ecu or can the car handle, for instance 350HP without any other Mods?

The car is more than quick enough now anyway. but just after that little bit more poke just to keep away those pesky scooby's and similar tat.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Second hand is also fine, so if theres any make/model they dont make anymore but you think its worth keeping an eye out for then let me know.

thanks.

i've got an Apexi avc-r one and i can honestly say its very very good and makes an amazing difference and you can turn it off for the car natural boost or have 2 settings A and B one prob for lower and one for high boost. Very easy to use and looks wise its quite simple and nice . New they are a bit pricey however they do come up in secondhand for quite reasonable prices, ebay, driftworks even the supra forum they tend to show up alot.

if you could stretch your budget a little would be really good if you could get a zedworld chip with the boost controller , amazing difference from standard ! : )

and how much is the chip? couldent i run it with boost controller first for a while? then fork out for a chip?

would this do the trick?

yup thats the one mate, i've got the black edition but its the same thing really only the cover colour changes i think.

as for running the boost controller without the chip yeah you can mate , was just saying its a really good cheap upgrade for the zed that makes a good perfomance difference : )

i forgot how much it was mate , you should ask Jeff at zedworld for the price , they also check if everything is okay before fitting the chip with conzult etc . should be in the £250 region or somewhere around that, bit more maybe. hth

Its about £75-£100 to have your ECU Chipped with a new Remap. John Dixon probably being the most popular choice for his expertise and mapping experience , but the other recomended suppliers are AndyP, DTA and Zedworld.

The remap ensures proper fuel and timing maps for Increased boost when fitting a boost controller, as well as removing the stock Speed limiter and Raising the Rev limiter.

The AVC-R is decent, but you really cant go wrong with the Greddy profec B Spec II. Probably the most popular and widely reccomended controller - It does everything you need, simple to use and reliable.

With a remapped ECU and the vehicle properly checked the max boost limit would be 14psi/1bar (stock is 9.5psi), which gives a very healthy power increase.

ok thanks for all the info lads.

My zed's booked in to zed world on the 8th for a water bypass (as i cant seem to get the time or get motivated to do it myself!!) At the same time there going to do a all over check, and a conzult check. once that's done i will book it in for the following month for a chip and to get the boost controller fitted.

Then it will be time for a rolling road session!! see how much more gee gee's i have. last time i did it, it was almost bang on 300hp. so hopefully with that lot i should get 350 right?

I would only choose a good recommended EBC matey,

Greddy Profec B Spec II FTW...........

I would say so - but you really want an air-filter if you're gonna get it chipped and a boost controller.. Help maximise the benefits.

I'd part with my AVCR for £200... I might not be fitting my TT engine for a good few months so I'll just buy another one. Let me know if you are interested :thumbup1:

Profec A gets my vote ;) but have always liked the AVCR.Just too complicated from what ive used of one - great looking bit of kit though and fits perfectly in the DIN.
