How bad are our roads at the moment - my local council still has outstanding repairs to do following last winter's cold spell so now they're worse than ever.

I'm so pissed off clattering over poor road surfaces that I'm having to take a longer route home from work every evening just to avoid fooking up my car.

I've only had my new SLK 3 months and already it's needed a trip back to MB because the steering wheel suddenly found itself off centre. Seems the shitty roads have affected the wheel allignment - which cost me almost £200 to have adjusted. Warranty won't cover that either as technically nothing is damaged, broken or worn; it's something that would sometimes need adjusting over the course of everyday use......

And they pointed out that there was a chunk missing from one of the rear tyres - luckily the wheel is not damaged. So that's almost another £200 for a new tyre now.

I reckon we should be allowed to legally withhold council tax or road fund licence until the authorities do something to fix the problem:asshole:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

The roads in your neck of the woods are atrocious mate. They were an absolute nightmare last year, and as you say aren't much better now. Seen some shockers whilst driving to the school there.

Not much better here to be honest, there is a certain road i go down to get to work and it has a open grid like that Gary its been awaiting a council repair that long someone has put an arrow on the road in paint with wtf under it lol

Not good!

the roads are a mess after the big freeze but you have to watch out for everthing this was 200 meters from my house last year

Roads here (Merseyside) are bad also, I was driving down a local road that has speed bumps, and pot holes were either side, no choice but to hit them, disgusting. a motorcyclist hitting some of these holes, could end up dead or seriously injured.:no:

But imagine

yep its the same around these parts Richard too...they think by marking them with paint it makes things better:wacko:

Dont know what all the fuss is about, thats about the standard for all our roads on the isle of wight

hi m8 take a pic of the pot hole, get a piece of wood an tape measure an take pics of the depth with etc etc, note down location, take a pic from distance, photo copy the will of what it cost u an send it in with a letter, an u should get ur money back,

Hey Rich, Nothing to do with pot holes, but you've got a really nice Zed. Lovely colour.

Rich

Cheers Rich! It's my second ZX now; I bought it from PhilP in August 2009. Phil certainly looked after it - and it's one of those rare "rust free uk spec cars" with a genuine low mileage.....

I had thought of that - but it could be any pot hole (or number of pot holes) round here at the mo. I could probably claim for the new tyre though; as I have a pretty good idea where it happened.

But as for the tracking, I'll certainly write to the local b@stards, sorry council, but it's really a culmination of clattering over the poor roads in general; so I reckon they'll just fob me off with some daft excuse.

Very true Chris - same with most things really! Luckily I'm a calm and rational person......... most of the time!!

yeah there not good when u got got 35 profile tyres

I know buddy; sometimes I feel like all my fillings are going to fall from my teeth when clattering over our poor and broken roads.

Thing is, I know money is tight for the authorities at the mo; but I remember many a cold and snowy winter from my childhood right through my teens. But I don't remember the roads failing like they do now. Sure there always have been pot holes but it seems that the "make do and mend" attitude of the councils is not solving the problem - more like putting off the inevitable:confused1::confused1:

councils are running low on money, so by leaving the bad pot hole an tarmacing the roads that dont really need it, it means when the run out of money the gov will have to find more money for then to fill the hole's, keeping them in work an having more money.
