I understand from Facebook and Z Club posts that Darrell has had a big accident, in a Merc, not the Z, which may have saved his life !

 

I know he doesn't come on here much now, but he was a long time member here, so I just thought I'd let people know that he is currently recovering, with quite a few broken bones, in Addenbrooke's Cambridge.

I should of posted this a while back, but have been really busy.

 

Bit more of a description:

 

You may or may not know that Darrell and his wife were in a car wreck yesterday. Fortunately they were in a big old Merc or it could have been a lot worse. However Darrell is not good. He's ok but not good. Heres a copy of text from his facebook page that a relative posted

 

Hi all darrells friends etc, darrell and Karen

Were In a rta, mums doing good, however darrell wasn't as lucky, he has broken he's

Right Leg in two places, other leg has broke

...His ankle and knee, he needs a Hip replacement as has broken his hip, cracked some ribs, broke his left shoulder! And broken nose!! Good news is he was in merc not zx else prob be dead, and they've straightened his nose.

Just as well he is a big bloke, or he might not have survived, i hope he makes a full recovery, im sure he has the support of the community.

The injuries are.

 

Broken left ankle, dslocated and fractured left shoulder, boken nose, craked a couple of ribs, broke my right leg just above the ankle abd also just below the knee, fractured and dislocated my right hip. The worst bit though was a slight tear in my lower intestine which had to fixed before all rest could be.

sounds very lucky, by the sounds of things it could have been much worse... thank god, allah, buddah or whoever you want to thank, for big well built German cars.

A few of us had a whip round and got him a kindle and a few vouchers to get a couple of book thingies as he likes reading and it would be easier for him rather than holding an actual book it was given to him yesterday night

An update as of yesterday

quick update.

 

I managed to spin the big old 300 E class bus and go backwards into the trees. For this reason it was my side that took the brunt of the impact. Took the brgade 2 1/2 to cut me out. Think there was half the force of 2 counties there. Seemed like a lot anyway.

 

The injuries are.

The worst bit though was a slight tear in my lower intestine which had to fixed before all rest could be.

 

I have now been operated on twice to repair legs and hip. Good news is that it was my bad hip that i injured so i have probably jumped the que for a replacement by 20 years.

 

Have finally got a laptop to use from work so i will be able o come on more often.
